Theory of Claws
Background
The Theory of Claws is one of the two major schools of thought within the Terror, the primary sapient species of Triumph. The other is the Theory of Wings.
Both theories are ways the Terror use to explain how, while they are similar to other birds on Triump in that they have wings, they are different in that they cannot fly.
Beliefs
The Theory of Claws states that the Terror are far more advanced than those birds they are descended from (who are able to fly). They don't need their wings, and the fact that they have claws on both their wings and their feet is proof of that. Birds which can fly are to be pitied. Their motto, 'Firmly Planted', is their attitude both to life and to their physicality as they believe in having their claws firmly planted on something solid at all times.Members
Most members are tied to their opinion but live life otherwise unencumbered by it. However, there are sub-factions who are more vocal and active in their engagement with the issue. One of the largest and most active of the groups within the Theory of Claws is the Theory of Claw Advocates (ToC Advocates). Members of the ToC Advocates have travelled as far as Unity and created an alliance with the Brugen who have similar beliefs. They regularly campaign for more claw-friendly access for all and have been known to protest the opening of Theory of Wings-friendly restaurants as they say it encourages lewd behaviour.History
The arrival of Peacekeepers on Triumph saw a boom in Terror believing in the Theory of Claws. This appearance of a sapient species who walked proudly on two legs and made no attempts to fly was groundbreaking to the Terror. Before the Peacekeepers' arrival, their numbers were dwindling, with a little under 27% of the population. By the time Triumph was fully initiated, the Theory of Claws became the majority and now averages between 69% - 78% of the population in any given year.Impact
The Theory of Claws may be considered a theory but it is also the basis of one of the two major political parties on Triumph. It is recognised across Triumph that everyone is an individual and has their own mind. As such, for the most part, people who follow the Theory of Wings (also known as Wingers) and people who follow the Theory of Claws (also known as Clawers), live happily side by side, willing to agree to disagree. TOC Advocates are one of the few exceptions to this.Related Articles

This is fun. I like that it has become a political thing for them almost, and it's interesting that there are extremists. I assume the other side has those too.
