Unity
"There are nice parts of Unity. The continents in the north, like the Pastures and the Home Counties have a quaint back-planet charm that reminds one simultaneously of a simpler time and why it's so good that we left it in the past. I haven't travelled to the southern part of Unity, but I've been told there's not much to see anyway. If I haven't been there, you certainly don't need to. Let's move on."
A Planet of Two Peoples
There are two peoples who call Unity home. The first and most popular are the Brugen. They live on the three northern continents, the Pastures, the Home Counties and the Distant Isle.
The Brugen pride themselves on their ability to think and create. They consider themselves more enlightened than the Nebrug and any other species on their planet (and many off-planet too).
Artists, creatives, writers and performers as well as philosophers and thinkers are highly prized in their society.
The other, less well-known species, are the Nebrug, who live mainly in the oceans and around the Little Islands and The Islands in the south of the planet.
The Nebrug see themselves as exceeding in disguise. Their ability to hide, or change their colour, is something that they prize highly, and this includes a level of social flexibility and deception. The ability to disguise themselves makes them extremely illusive.
Naming
Being part of The Aspiration System, as part of joining the Peacekeeper Alliance, the Peacekeepers renamed the planet from its original name Laupo (according to the Brugens) to something which fit the theme of aspirational values. Unity was settled upon because it both had the gravitas the Peacekeepers required and the Brugen were particularly eager to become a part of the Alliance.
Geography
Unity sits within The Aspiration System which is part of the Peacekeeper Territories. It is one of the five habitable planets in the star system out of a total of 18 planets. The planet itself is split up into two territories, the Brugen-occupied continents in the north and the Nebrug oceans and a single continent in the south. There are six tectonic plates (which can be seen on the map), four of which have large landmasses on them and one of which has an archipelago of islands on it. In the North, from west to east there is the Pasturine Plate, which is home to The Pastures, the Homeological Plate, where the Home Counties can be found, and the Distanteous Plate, named after The Distant Isle. These all sit within Brugen Territory. The three tectonic plates to the south of the planet are the Little Plate, which is ironically the largest of the tectonic plates but is home to the Little Islands, the Oceanic Plate, the only tectonic plate without any land, and the Islandic Plate in the far south, where The Islands are.Notable Areas
There are several notable areas on Unity, some of which are on land and some of which are below water. The Peacekeepers and the Brugen tend to only concern themselves with those on land.Home Counties Countryside
The Home Counties Countryside, found on the largest continent on the planet, is widely considered to be some of the most picturesque in Unity.
The rolling green hills, the woodlands and the meandering rivers are home to 17 counties each of which are brimming with Brugen villages like Quackerly Green.
The people who live in these counties are very proud of their landscapes and as a result, they are the inspiration for much of Brugen art, poetry, and prose. It is, in some instances, used as a synonym for paradise, with one Brugen author writing that they "longed for nothing more than to return to my heart where I left it, in that most idyllic, peaceful and truly elevated place, the Home Counties countryside".
Grey Canyons
The Grey Canyons are a sacred space, found in the Eastern Depths. It is believed by the Nebrug to be the oldest place on the planet and as such is treated with all due reverence.
The Canyons themselves are formed between two tectonic plates, the Little Plate and the Oceanic Plate. These two plates move against each other and are currently believed to be moving apart at a rate of approximataly 1cm every two years.
They are not the deepest canyons in the ocean (which lie between the Little Plate and the Homeological Plate), but they are home to some very unique wildlife, including the luminous squid, which only show themselves once every ten to twelve years.

I love that the largest tectonic plate is called the Little Plate. This brings me joy.
