Anti-Intolerance Act

"When used correctly, the wording in this law is more powerful than any military weapon in The Alliance's ongoing fight for Peace."

Background

After the The Second Micro Rebellion, a reaction to the Societal Betterment Act, the Primians created the Forgiveness Law. This law was introduced in an attempt to ensure that the Primians could not be persecuted for any of their actions during the Second Micro Rebellion, some of which could at the time have been considered war crimes. This led to a lot of backtalking about the Primians, and so the Anti-Intolerance Act (AIA) was created.

Purpose

The purpose of the AIA was initially defined as to "avoid the recurrence of negative relations between the Primians and ... [locals] which could lead to further unwanted hostilities". This was agreed to by the Macrans whose numbers were already depleted after the previous two "hostilities".   After the Peacekeeper Alliance was formed, the AIA was ratified once more and became a standard part of any new planet's initiation, as it remains to this day.   It can be summarised as follows:
Defamation and intolerant behaviour of any kind, including but not limited to the discrimination of, or against, persons within The Alliance, either by those who are themselves members of The Alliance or those who are not, shall be considered a treasonous act. As such, anyone found to have been partaking in such behaviour in a court of Law shall be punished by the maximum sentence available to that court. In the case that evidence of a material and trustworthy nature can be provided outside of a court setting, then the case need not be presented in court and will instead be handled directly by Peacekeepers reporting to the Director of Order or his superior.

Definitions

Word / Phrase Definition
Intolerant behaviour Anything which is deemed not sufficiently polite or hospitable
Persons within The Alliance Peacekeepers, people working directly within the Peacekeeper Alliance or those with a Pachian heritage.
Members of The Alliance People who live within Peacekeeper Territories but don't work for The Alliance directly and are not of Pachian heritage.
Material and trustworthy nature Physical or digital proof of the behaviour, or the word of someone who is considered "trustworthy" by The Alliance, i.e. another Peacekeeper.

Social Impact

The AIA has been considered the most useful preventative measure in the sort of uprisings which might otherwise be common within such a large Alliance. Peacekeepers see it as a key component of ensuring peace across the Territories.   Those who have fallen afoul of this law felt differently for the short time between their sentencing and death.
