The Fens
This refers to the area south of what is calle dhte Gully. There is a creek - known as The Creek - that flows through this area, the low ground between the Gully and Peterborough, which has never been developed. Before the Troubles it was fairly empty - there were a few settlers, but mostly it was creek and fens, and copses of trees. Some of it had been fairly pretty, but most of it was a nasty mire, a dump, the dregs of the city.
It is worse in the 1600s. It is haunted by monsters and predators, it is dirty and dangerous. It is walled off by a new wall on the Peterborough side and an finished and ineffective one on the Gully side. There is nothing here to recommend it to anyone. Though, with the Gully largely emptied of people, this might be cleaner in the 1610s than it had been in the 1590s.
