Northbridge
The area on the eastern bank of the river, by the lake. This is the site of most of the manufacturing and industry of the city, the sawmills and granaries and such. It is surrounded by a wall, has extensive waterfront facilities, and is settled by traders and merchants. It is fairly peaceful, though the waterfront is a waterfront, though more sailors and workers than of adventurers. This keeps some of the more exotic violence south of the river, but there is no lack of trouble here. Press gangs, thieves, organized crime, prostitution, drunken sailors and the like abound. Just a lot less sword play and magic. There are several large guild halls in this area - many of the city’s guilds are based here.
Demographics
This part of town is fairly integrated - there are lots of dwarves here, and quite a few half-orcs. There is a lot of work to be done, and plenty of toleration for anyone with brute strength.
Industry & Trade
This is the center of industry and a major trade hub. Mills, foundries and so on are here.
Guilds and Factions
The thieves' guild is important. They were in 1590s, and are int he 1610s, possibly more so. The factions here managed to stay out fo the wars, and so survived far better than some of the rest fo the thieves. Many trade and industry guilds are active here as well.
