Sister Cities

The Sister Cities are the cities of Arborcítta and Undacítta, together the largest metropolitan area in Scalados. They are connected by the Pontë Néyansar. Together, they are both the largest metropolitan area in the Kingdom of Scalados and the cultural capital of the wood elves. The two cities occasionally share a friendly rivalry, but have been close allies since their founding.

Geography

The Sister Cities lie on either side of the Ilduinë River, with Arborcítta on the more elevated northern half and Undacítta on the low-lying coastal delta. Because of Undacítta's more low-lying buildings and Arborcítta's hills, some of the taller wood-sung houses in Arborcítta (most notably the Grand Tree) still have a clear view of the Aegirrán Sea. Since the Golden Millennium, techniques developed by the expert woodsmiths of Undacítta have allowed the city to build taller buildings on the flat, stable land, causing some controversy among those in Arborcítta who worry about their views being blocked.

Climate

The Sister Cities are located in the temperate climate of southern Scalados. They experience cold, wet winters with light snowfall, cool and rainy spring, and warm summers with mild temperatures stretching fairly late into autumn. Temperatures are regulated by the dense thickets of the southern Eldar Wood surrounding them. Undacítta tends to be slightly warmer than Arborcítta, except for the harsh winds directly on the coast in the cooler months.
