Earth

The current date is January 3rd, 2020.

Earth is the home of Humanity, having existed for millions of years. Once a brilliant green and blue planet; it is now a devastated world overrun with Mana. Earth, having a vast history and culture to it, a majority of which has been lost to time; was a beautiful planet, with many great sights to be found throughout it. The world had been through a lot, with many dramatic upheavals in its history; such as the event that brought magic to the world; The Bloom. However, within the last five years, Earth had been devastated by a cataclysm known as The Withering; which brought horrific change all around.

Regions

The world has been split into various regions determined by those living in the areas, as well as interpersonal conflicts that had briefly occurred soon after The Withering began. The regions, making up a total of twelve areas in the world, are listed as:
American Wasteland
Geographic Location | Jan 20, 2022

The American Wasteland, what was once the North America continent, destroyed and ruined...

What was once the United States of America, Mexico, Canada, and others within the region is now a sprawling wasteland of disease, monsters, mana and disaster. With many groups taking refuge throughout the surviving lands, life has managed to live on...

South Wastelands
Geographic Location | Sep 12, 2021
Although South America got off relatively better than it's northern counterpart, it's still a massive disaster area filled to the brim with all sorts of odd magic, some of which dates back to ancient times and further beyond; walking amongst the living once again...

New Hawaii
Geographic Location | Sep 12, 2021
Once a small island, Hawaii has grown to become its own small continent of an island. Although there were a lot of casualties in the days after The Withering, many have managed to survive on this island; living amongst the woods and around the massive volcano that has grown...

Farlands
Geographic Location | Sep 12, 2021
Partly composed of a continent that seemingly appeared from nowhere, and another massive continent that had split off from Africa, the Farlands are a mysterious and magic-filled area full of mysterious life and various organisms; some of which either are or were once human...
Europa
Geographic Location | Sep 12, 2021
Those within what was once Europe refer to the new area as Europa, a simple change that vastly underestimates the new dangers and landscapes throughout the region. Rule Britannia is now out of bounds to those within the region; especially as it grows colder and colder...

The Northern World
Geographic Location | Jan 20, 2022

The world down under...

Within a large, underground area inhabited by a split of humanity known as the Hyperboreal, The Northern World has managed to survive the global earthquakes and changing landscape of the entire world. Although some have new doubts about the gods that helped them, others insist that they will survive...

New Africa
Geographic Location | Sep 12, 2021
The origin point of The Withering, New Africa is one of the regions hit the hardest by the disaster that came about from it. With a massive chasm filled with high quantities of Edenite to the massive; hand-shaped scar where Vredefort Crater was, nothing will be the same in this region of the world...

Lost East
Geographic Location | Sep 12, 2021
The Middle East, once an area where many conflicts were found; has been split into many islands. With the city of Palestine completely locked away from all contact; and various horrors ripped straight from biblical passages found here, many survivors are forced to work together or perish...
West Asia
Geographic Location | Sep 12, 2021
Asia, once a massive and sprawling continent with many rich cultures such as that of Russia and China, has now been split asunder. While the western part of Asia is constantly dealing with Warp Storms, some within the region are attempting to find a way to reverse the effects of The Withering...

East Asia
Geographic Location | Sep 12, 2021
Many things have changed in the eastern part of Asia, such as the island of Taiwan becoming massive and the floating islands made up of former parts of the country flying above the land. Although some have managed to take refuge on the islands, they're unable to escape, such is the fate of the rest of the world...

Australia
Geographic Location | Sep 12, 2021
Australia has managed to survive the worst of the tragedy, although like the other regions of the world; they're not entirely faring any better. With parts of the country itself currently burning up in flames and the other half dealing with horrifying creatures, time can only tell how Australia can handle the world around them...

Antartica
Geographic Location | Sep 12, 2021
Antartica, a frozen wasteland, has become completely uninhabitable. While there were some whom had been living in the area for scientific research and other activities down there, there has been no contact made with anyone that once resided there. Whatever happened there should happen to no one...

Geography

The entirety of Earth has drastically changed since the occurence of The Withering, with massive lakes and oceans forming in places that there was land; and large islands forming seemingly from nothing. Parts of the world have either been overwhelmed with Mana, becoming known as Excursion Zones; or have been overwrought with Scarred Ash. Other parts of the world are either constantly on fire, or undergoing drastic changes in temperatures; turning once tropical areas into cold regions within months.

Ecosystem Cycles

Localized Phenomena

There are various odd phenomena that occur throughout the land, all of which stem from the strange effects Mana has had on it. Some of these phenomena bend the laws of reality, while others simply defy what is known about the natural world. Of note is that these phenomena became increasingly common during and after The Withering. The most common ones are:
Aside from these, however, there are other odd occurences that can occur, such as Inverse Rain; which tends to result in areas becoming dry as a result.

History

Although much of Earth's history has been shrouded in mystery, what is known is that humans have been around for a long, long time. Humanity has been through many wars and hardships throughout the years, surviving and living through everything from natural catastrophies to unknown horrors in the dark.

And then, The Bloom occured.

You've obviously thought so much about what would happen all across the Earth. I know you're focusing on the American Wasteland, but I'm definitely intrigued to learn more about other cultures and places in the future. :D
