The Frost
January 3rd, 2020. It's so cold...
The Frost is the name given to the timeline of the world of the same name; a frozen wasteland that was once known as Earth. Known as The Frozen Wasteland to those In this timeline, Earth's history had remained relatively the same up until the Cold War, where a single defining moment in history caused it to split off from the main timeline. The moment revolved around a failed vote over the SODOM ratification, with highlights in it including the ban experimental type of weapon called an Edenite Bomb and a limitation being enforced upon mega-corporations, enacted because of the Deepcore Foundation. It all came down to one vote on March 23rd, 1954, a vote which was against SODOM and formed the timeline. Events would escalate gradually for the next eight years before October 25th, 1962; where World War III began and wiped out a vast majority of humanity and left the survivors to freeze to death in the frozen wasteland that came afterward.
Survivors
There are various groups of survivors that have been built up throughout the years since World War III, some of which have united under one banner, while others seem to prefer to stick it out on their own. The most noteworthy groups, as far as those known within America, involve:
The Refounded
The Refounded is one of the largest groups within America, led by Adrian Briggs in the town of Moonblight. They've been known for the strong breed of survivors that live within, with everyone within protected by the Overwatch Of The Refounded. They are a force to be reckoned with outside their lands, with few willing to mess with them.The Order Of The Holy Stone
The Order Of The Holy Stone is a religious group that believes that they have direct access and communication with god through an artifact that they have dubbed the Holystone. Lead by Damian Price, they own a large region of land that contains an old castle in the midst of it, protected for the longest time by those loyal to the Order.Nomans
The Nomans are a group of people who have opted to wander across the entire frozen wasteland without allowing anything to hold them down. Believing in the strength and beauty of fire and nature, the largest group of Nomans are lead by Nathan Rex and Eduardo Gallo.Frozen Core
The Frozen Core is composed of the remnants of the Deepcore Foundation, the capital of it being in Chelburg. Although their leadership falls under a more control-focused role than the other areas, and it cannot be denied that they have been a good help at times, their prior existence as the Deepcore Foundation combined with the occasional screw-up done by them has made them a fair bit infamous.Navajo Clan
The Navajo Clan is composed of the surviving Diné people that made up the Navajo Nation. While they are divided into smaller tribes throughout their land, the Clan's leadership is composed of the Gray Stag Tribe. They are a strong people, whom have survived rather well in the frozen wasteland despite the occasional conflicts that occur between them and the old guard within the Frozen Core.Traveler's Circus
The Traveller's Circus is a mobile circus operation ran by Baroness Alassin Sane, going around America with a bunch of performers for the purpose of entertaining everyone around! Although popular, they have been known for being rather terrifying to be around, due to the fact that their stunts tend to be rather dangerous.The Umbra
The Umbra reside within the Shadowlands, led by the seven Holders. They are a cult that believes the cold that humanity is dealing with is the work of a god that will bring them all into a new age. They are mysterious, with few trusting those within the Umbra, especially after 2017.The Mephistopheles
The Mephistopheles are a large gang that reside in the city of Hellwood, feared by those within the region. One of the few cities outside the purview of the other regions, The Mephistopheles are lead by Jackson Roberts, who leads with an iron fist.Kai Alliance
Once, there was a Yakuza outfit living within Hellwood known as the Kai Alliance. The families within the alliance, most notably the Namiko Family, served to survive in the frozen wasteland; with an uneasy relationship with The Mephistopheles notwithstanding. Unfortunately, the Alliance has been wiped out in the Night Of Fire, with few survivors.Geography
While the geography remains relatively the same as it does in the main timeline, it's heavily changed from all the disaster that has befallen the world. Along with distinct locations being heavily irradiated, there are hundreds of irradiated craters scattered throughout the land where nuclear bombs had been dropped. Most of the ocean has frozen over, with more of it turning to ice as the months go on. Alongside settlements and shelters constructed by surviving humans; there exist tall Frozen Monolithss constructed through unknown means throughout the land. Mountains have been covered completely in ice, while giant glaciers have formed across the land. The northern parts of the American continent has been covered in radiation, the air dense with nuclear and magical energy.
Fauna & Flora
Animals that have previously survived in tropical; desert; or humid climates before the bombs dropped have gone either extinct, or are dangerously close to dying out. The animals that have survived have either been able to adapt relatively quickly to the change; which is very few, or are used to cold; freezing conditions, such as arctic wolves or penguins. The same goes for flora located across the earth. The result of the world freezing does mean locations such as the Amazon Rain-forest have completely frozen over. Of note are that certain Pine trees and Giant sequoia trees have managed to survive the cold; some of which mutating into Frosted Trees. Other new plants that have taken form in this world are Shiverflowers and Crosslings.
Existing animals have been reborn as newer species, stronger than they were in the previous world and much more dangerous to be around. These include the tiny and disease-spreading Icequito, the fast and cautious Black-eyed Deer, the dangerous and meaty Bearded Boar, the lazy yet lethal White Bear, and the small yet plentiful Frosted Rats. One of the new species that can be found throughout the world is the Jackalope, a once thought-to-be-mythical creature come true.
Lastly, there's one such species that has proven to be a large danger throughout the entirety of the frozen wasteland. They are known as the Living Ice, and they pose a great threat to those wandering around in the world, either killing survivors or leaving them ill with Acute Freezing Syndrome. They build up all the Frozen Monoliths that have been seen throughout the world, dragging the dead towards it for unknown reasons.
Greenhouses
Greenhouses are buildings made within existing rooms, constructed from the ground up, or built into houses that exist for the purpose of farming, allowing people to grow their own crops despite the intense cold outside. Sometimes, large greenhouses are able to store animals from before World War III, such as cows and pigs within them, keeping them safe from the environment.
