Icequito
Icequitos are Mosquitos that have been contaminated with a strange plague as a result from coming into contact with Living Ice. With Acute Freezing Syndrome in its bloodstream, it's but one of the many bugs that travelers and Searchers have to worry about when trying to get around.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Much like ordinary Mosquitos, Icequitos have a segmented body with one pair of wings, halteres, three pairs of long hairy legs, a proboscis for sucking out blood, and a blood sack. Unlike ordinary Mosquitos, however, Icequitos have a dark bluish appearance to their bodies, sometimes with one or more of their legs straight up missing. Their wings are more elongated, with the veins seen on them glowing a faint blue in the dark. In their short time-span, the amount of ice that slowly forms on their body grows more and more until they eventually expire, turning into little balls of ice.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Much like the Mosquitos that came before them, Icequitos tend to feed off of the blood of living or deceased species around them. They do this by latching onto whatever they wish to feed on and sticking their sharp proboscis into them to suck out the blood. When they do this, however, they end up infecting people with Acute Freezing Syndrome. Generally, it's because of this risk that in regions where Icequitos are most prevalent; people take care to bundle up heavily.
Additional Information
Average Intelligence
When they are born, Icequitos display an average intelligence as far as bugs go, being able to recognize certain dangers and locations. However, once the Acute Freezing Syndrome begins to set in, their mental capabilities become increasingly disruptive and unhinged. A few Icequitos have occasionally drank more blood than their bodies can handle, which has resulted in them dying just from destroying their own blood sacks. Other Icequitos will fly around in a deranged circle repeatedly until their wings give out. These match up with the symptoms that a person experiences when they are infected with Acute Freezing Syndrome.

Ah, mosquitoes. Probably killed more of us than any (or perhaps all combined) other animals. Nicely done :) It might be worth putting a short overview description of what acute freezing syndrome is and how it affects them/their victims, since the links right now don't seem to be working

Thank you! Don't worry, one of the articles I plan on tackling tomorrow will be about Acute Freezing Syndrome. It ain't going to be pretty!
