Human Species in OmniVerse | World Anvil

Human

Humanity is the race that is commonly found throughout most of The Omniverse and the universes that are contained within. On initial appearances, they don't seem all that special compared to the other races found throughout the Set Of Nine. They have a low capability for magic at birth, their line of sight is limited to the physical plane of reality; and they can't sense magic. So what makes humanity so special compared to other races?   Their ability to survive, their ability to live, and their ability to fight. They have survived great tragedies that would've driven other races to extinction several times over, and despite their tendency for self-destruction and murder of their fellow humans, they tend to be feared for their ability and determination; especially when humans work together.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Humans typically have the same physical body-type, give or take differences between their sexes. They have two arms and two legs, two eyes with a nose and a lip. Their height; length of their arms and legs, the shape of their heads, as well as their body's internal condition such as hereditary sicknesses are all determined by the genes on one's offspring. There's typically four fingers and a thumb on both hands, and five toes on their feet, although there have been rare mutations in a human that has resulted in them being without particular digits on their body, or with 'webbing' occurring.

Additional Information

Average Intelligence

Usually, a human's average intelligence can be measured with an IQ test, with the average of the test being around 100. Commonly, humans will range from having an IQ between 85 and 115; with any score lower or higher than either number being uncommon. While that doesn't necessarily always equal that a human will have smart or moral beliefs, having an idea of their IQ can give some a general idea about a particular human's intelligence.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Each human has six senses, five of which are the ones they'll use the most often throughout their lives. The last sense, while humans are capable of using it, 99% of the race no longer has the knowledge on how to use it. The senses are as follows:

  1. Sight
  2. Hearing
  3. Touch
  4. Smell
  5. Taste
  6. Magica

The sense of Magica has been dormant in humans for several millennia, only recently returning in the past 100 years after The Bloom. These groups have exploded after The Withering, however, for a lot of humans; due to being untrained, unexperienced and unprepared for the usage of Mana, there are several risks that exist, such as Mana Overexposure Disorder.

Civilization and Culture

Major Organizations

Ordinarily, there are many major groups and countries that ruled over large parts of the world. However, since 2015 after The Withering, The Deepcore Foundation has taken control over a large portion of it.   The notable organizations in this world that still remain despite the destruction of the world are NATO; albeit with most of its members either defected or flat-out destroyed, The Eastern Unity, the Moscow-Tokyo Pact, and FENRIR.

Gender Ideals

Gender has been a complicated thing throughout the human race for millennia, a social construct involving the idea that gender is split between whether your sex is of the male variety or the female variety. Over the past few decades, however, the idea of being solely a male or female has been challenged; with more and more people coming out identifying as the opposite gender or even neither gender. While some may protest against it, the idea of being transgender or nonbinary is one that will continue to grow and be accepted by more and more people, with support coming to those who identify as such, even in horrible times such as what is going on with the Earth today.

Relationship Ideals

Humans typically make platonic relationships with those of the same sex, and occasionally with those of the opposite. Ordinarily, people will try and pursue romantic relationships with those of the opposite gender, at least, that's what the common belief is anyway. Generally, as seen throughout human history, they will develop romantic or sexual interest or curiosity in the same sex , interest in both sexes , interest in multiple genders , or neither . Regardless of the orientation, humans desire to be with their loved ones for as long as they can, if they have a healthy relationship; with a majority of them even going for marriage with their lover in question. Some humans have even managed to stay together despite several odds.

Average Technological Level

In the time span between 2010 and 2015, before The Withering occured and resulted in mass destruction, humanity had been reaching an apex of sorts with technology. Virtual Reality technology was becoming viable and somewhat affordable for consumer use, allowing people to enter virtual worlds and connect with people on the other side of the world. Laser-based weaponry was being mass-produced, while 3D Printing had allowed a user to replace digits and failed organs with biological parts. The SYNTH Project had been in full swing at this point, resulting in some becoming biomechanical in nature with portions of their bodies replaced with machinery. Cell-phones could display holograms and be used to pay for 95% of items instead of the older and defunct credit cards. Of particular note is the widespread usage of technology that made use of Edenite, including mining gear, Power Glove tech, and most importantly: Energy generation, beating out nuclear power by a landslide.

History

A majority of early human history has been lost, with all knowledge of it in the range of 3000-2600 BC being shrouded in mystery. What is known, however, is that humans started off on what is now known to be the eastern side of the planet, in Africa. They would begin to spread throughout the rest of the planet over a span of hundreds of years, building up great empires in the now European and Iranian region, and eventually going across the ocean to colonize the Americas; making them the dominant species of this planet. A few studies claim that the origin of humanity comes from what is known as the Vredefort Crater; the largest impact crater on the planet. Verification of these studies, however, have been unsubstantiated at best.
