SYNTH

SYNTH, More commonly known as the Synthetic Program, is the crowning achievement of the Deepcore Foundation's Research and Development teams. Created as part of Freddie D. Russo's desire to expand his life-span, SYNTH has been used for the purpose of extending the lives of cancer patients, individuals suffering from heavy spinal injury, or any other terminal illness.

A Brief History

Begun in 2007 at the behest of the CEO of the Deepcore Foundation, Freddie D. Russo had ordered the hundreds of scientists working for the Foundation to begin work on a cybernetic body that could allow him to not only survive any further assassination attempts that are made on his life, but to also allow him to walk again after the last one he had been through damaged his lower spine, causing him to lose all function of his legs.   The project took 6 years to be completed, with the very best of the best experimenting, researching, and developing the parts and mechanisms needed to not only simulate the human body, but to improve it on many levels. Finally, on September 8th, 2013, the SYNTH project was revealed to the world. It took a year for the body to be rolled out privately to various investors, military and government officials before finally being given to the public, allowing those who are approaching the end of their lifespan to survive for much, much longer.

Access & Availability

SYNTH Bodies have been given to high-ranking military officers that the Deepcore Foundation has had business dealings with, as well as officials who work alongside the Foundation. For the most part, however, SYNTH is given to those who reside in protected cities that are overseen by the Deepcore Foundation in the American Wasteland, usually as recommendation by doctors to those who are suffering from cancer or other terminal illnesses. While expensive, those who work for the Deepcore Foundation or one of it's hundreds of partnered companies have been able to get the bodies relatively cheaper.

Controversy

Before The Withering made it difficult to spread certain kinds of information around, there had been reports by various independent groups; including the FDA that the bodies are outfitted with trackers; which the Deepcore Foundation could use to identify and locate individuals who have undergone the procedures. Alongside that, there have been reports of people experiencing the blood within their bodies leaking out and their limbs falling off due to faulty parts. Lastly, a few people have reported chips that had planted in their brain without any prior notification, with the purpose of the chips being unknown to the general public.

Manufacturing

In order to properly put a human into a SYNTH body, several steps are taken. The first of which is the creation of a body for the human in question; which can take anywhere from a week to a month depending on the availability of resources; and a queue that the individual is put on. Once the body is constructed, select parts of the human's body; specifically the head and the spine, are placed into the body. In some cases, the heart and the lungs may need to be transferred over as well. In more extreme cases, the brain and spine may be the only parts of the original body to be transferred.   Once the required parts of the human's body are placed over into the SYNTH Body, extensive work is done to properly sync up the cybernetic body's movements with the required synapses and nerves in the brain. Alongside that, the body is given a specialized type of artificial blood with trace amounts of Mana within it to simulate the conditions of bloodflow within the human body. After several checks are done to make sure there are no rejections between the biological and the artifical parts of the body, the newly-bodied human is allowed to go, free to live their life to their fullest extent.
Alternative Names:
SYNTH Project, Synthetic Replacement Program, Life-Extension Protocol
Complexity
The SYNTH Project makes use of various other technologies that have been developed by not only the Deepcore Foundation, but other government agencies and their technologies, such as NASA, DARPA, and FENRIR. These technologies include the ongoing RMO AI development and its related Cyborg body research; and the usage of Mana, Manasteel and Depthmektal.

I actually find this idea a little creepy. I wonder if something comparable would ever be available in real life.   I do like the touch that the technology was developed with the funding of a rich person who wanted to expand his life. I can see that happening for real. xD

Pretty interesting article! How many more years do people life with synth bodies in comparison to regular humans? What is the limiting factor, the brain decaying over time? Are there also people who opt to be uploaded into a fully synthetic body or is that not achieved yet?

Feel free to check my new world Terra Occidentalis if you want to see what I am up to!

Depends on the upkeep up their body, but the estimate is said to be around 100 years longer than average. The only limiting factor would be the brain decaying overtime, however there are efforts being made using various AI technologies that would allow the mind to be transferred to an artificial brain. As of current, however, the farthest that can be done is the head being transplanted onto a fully synthetic body.

This is super cool! Have there been any news on the whistleblowers from the SYNTH, who made the information on tracking and other possibly freedom-threatening scenarios available to the general public?   Also, the if the chips are embedded in the SYNTH bodies, do people nowadays have found ways to reprogram them for their own purpose, e.g., faking the GPS location by routing the signal from their chip to the other?   Thank you for a good read!
