Edenite Material in OmniVerse | World Anvil

Edenite

Edenite is a powerful material that has been used for a millennium by all of those in every part of the Set Of Nine within The Outside, especially within the last one hundred years. On its own, the material expels a great ton of energy known as Mana, which can power various magical devices; as well as scientific devices that have been modified and adjusted to use Edenite. When certain actions have been taken, Edenite takes after an Elementia; expelling the element in question and opening the door for various other means. In order to use it, one must either strike it with another Edenite gem, feed it Mana or electricity, or feed it the element it relates to.

Elementia

Elementia describes the kind of element that inhabits Edenite. They're all range from the standard types such as flame and lightning to the harder to obtain types such as void and nightmare. Elementia is essentially the core of what makes Edenite useful, as its vast range allows it to be perfectly malleable in use. They can be divided into two separate groups: Natura Elementia and Unnatura Elementia. Natura Elementia tends to be common elements found throughout nature, such as fire, ice, water, and the like. Unnatura Elementia is composed of that which cannot be found in nature, oftentimes coming about as a result of artificial or psychological means.

Properties

Material Characteristics

When found in the wild, Edenite takes on a sharp, crystalline form, jutting from the ground as spikes. Oftentimes it would be found underground as giant clusters of gems. When it is fully refined, however, it often takes on a smooth or shaped form depending on the purpose, with some refiners shaping them down into a diamond-like shape.

Geology & Geography

Oftentimes, it's found underground, though there have been sightings of Edenite found on the surface. It would be buried underneath all the heavy stone and rock above it, with some clusters of it being as large as can be; resulting in massive caverns made entirely out of Edenite.

History & Usage

History

Edenite was originally discovered in the 1800s by miners digging deep into the earth in Mexico; however its usage was heavily limited, and it was difficult to dig up at the time. Over the next hundred years, people would occasionally find Edenite all around the world; becoming a rare commodity that was often traded between merchants all over the world. For the longest time, the true use of its abilities would not be known, being seen as just a shiny gem until mysteriously, on November 6th, 1901; a strange event occurred. Along with the existing clusters found, vast quantities of stone underneath the world would turn into the strange material; with all of it beginning to emit a wondrous glow. People all over the world began to report on the strange discovery, the Edenite beginning to change and alter depending on the elements it is exposed to.

Four days later, the Deepcore Foundation, having a large operation in the New Mexico area, would begin to dig up the mineral in great loads. They took the opportunity when they saw it, quickly turning in a massive profit from the amount of Edenite they dug up. This would result in the Foundation's quick growth, allowing them to buy up land deeds and contracts throughout all of New Mexico, before slowly making their foothold in other countries across America. Over the next several months, they would get a foot in the door on the world stage, becoming the world's largest mining operation within the span of several years. They would discover the various Elementa that can be used for Edenite, as well as the usages the gem has. One such usage which would become especially useful in the future, especially during World Wars I and II, would be its appliance to warfare. They discovered its application in ranged weaponry from pistols and assault rifles, to its use in explosives; resulting in the highly-controversial Edenite Bomb to be developed. While the Edenite Bomb would be banned on March 23rd; 1954 with the SODOM Ratification, there's some out there who still develop the highly dangerous bombs for nuclear deterrence or terroristic activities.

In the modern age, Edenite still has its use, being applied to all sorts of weaponry and tools. Power Gloves use it as one of the main components, alongside Magnetite, to lift heavy metals with ease; while laser-based mining machinery use Light Elementa to dig into the terrain and carve out massive caves. Edenite is a wondrously versatile material in the eyes of many, being used for the creation of specialized batteries that have the ability to power devices for decades without the issues ordinary batteries have.

This is really interesting - I love the table about the different types of Edenite. The history is really fascinating too.   'the standard types such as flame and lightning to the harder to obtain types such as lightning and nightmare.' You have lightning twice here, just thought you'd want to know. :)   Great article!
