Traveler's Circus

The Traveler's Circus is exactly what it says on the tin, a circus that travels across the frozen wasteland that is America. They go year around across the entire country, stopping in various towns belonging to the many groups found in America and showing off a strange, somewhat demented yet rather entertaining circus show.

Purpose / Function

The Traveler's Circus' purpose is quite simple, really: to go around America and show off the strange, bizarre, and interesting talent that can be seen around America! From musical performances to trained animal shows, from painful magic tricks to terrifying trapeze stunts; to just straight up terrifying clowns! The Traveler's Circus has many shows and acts that they put on, for the enjoyment or terror of all those around!

Common Tour Paths

Generally, they will make a large go around the entire country that lasts around an entire year, with the first stop of their tour beginning at the Great Forge for The WorldForge celebrations. After that, they travel through the The Order Of The Holy Stone's castle and have a stop there, before going on to make a stop in the Navajo Lands.   Once the show there is over, they host a competition with the tribes there; a yearly occurrence that determines whom amongst the tribes will have the opportunity to preform amongst those within the Traveling Circus. The competition stems from the relationship that Alassin Sane has with the tribes in the area, something that she offers to them as thanks for services that they have provided for her in the past. The tribe-members who go with them will stay with the circus for the run of the tour, before coming back home the next year. After the competition ends, they begin the next leg of their trip: hosting three shows within the Shadowlands for The Umbra, before stopping in Hellwood for another one. After that, they make a trip through one more settlement within the Shadowlands, before making a pit stop in the Navajo Lands once again.   Once they are finished with their stop, they preform one more show in the Navajo Lands capital, before going down through the Frozen Core and preforming in three different towns there, skipping past Terlingua as; in the owner's own words:
I don't want anything to do with whatever the hell they're doing there.
— Alassin Sane
After that, it's a trip right through The Refounded and doing three different shows there. Finally, they do one last show in Port Sinclair before staying there for a fair bit of time to relax and celebrate another year of their circus existing and bringing some kind of joy to those in the wasteland. They make the trip back up north, going through Washington D.C. before ending back up at ANAMUSEMENT, taking refuge there and preparing their act for their next tour.

Popular Acts

Some of the most popular acts that they do on a yearly basis, usually with a large difference between years, include:

The Trapeze Of Death

The Traveler's Circus has come around again, with the promoter of it, Alassin Sane, claiming that this year, the famous Trapeze Of Death will involve a lot of fire! May god grant them luck to not die a horrible death!
— The Frozen Core Weekly News Board, 2020
The Trapeze of Death is exactly as it says on the tin, an act that involves the group act involved doing dangerous trapeze stunts over a death pit with no net; with what's in the pit changing every year. Last year it was a pit of broken nails, bottles, and various other sharp pieces of junk all covered in ice; this year it was a pit filled with fire. And spikes. Needless to say, this one keeps putting people on the edge of their seats due to the danger involved, especially when the actors include dangerous gimmicks such as holding a torch and flinging it around while doing thier dangerous jumps.

The Court Of Musical Kings And Queens

Was Elvis always played using a Mandolin and drums made from junk?
— A local denizen of The Refounded on The Court Of Musical Kings and Queens, 1998
A musical group composed of people using instruments scavenged from the frozen wasteland and restored to working condition; and scrap that has been shoddily put together to act as a new kind of instrument. They preform various songs that were popular in the decades before World War III, such as Elvis Presley, Patti Page, and The Weavers; as well as songs of their own composition. There are also animal performers that come out along the song, preforming dangerous and strange stunts that the animals have all been trained to do.

Clown Town All Around

Fucking Clowns.
— Anonymous coulrophobic, 2007
A large group of clowns dressed up in strange makeups that put on various odd shows, including animal taming acts; juggling dangerous objects; and the like. Sometimes, they dress up like the various beasts seen throughout the frozen wasteland; including that of the Living Ice, all for a show of mocking the hell out of said dangerous animals. They will appear a handful of times in between various acts, usually to relieve the circus-goers tension after seeing dangerous acts such as the Trapeze Of Death.

Architecture

When they're on the road, the circus goes around in a large caravan, pulled by a combination of horses and Snow Gliders to traverse the frozen land. Once they reach their destination for a show, they will set the line of gliders and horse-pulled wagons around in a large circle, with the tent being set up in the middle. Generally, it takes three days for them to finish setting everything up; including the large tent that they need for the show. To set it up, they place a heavy-duty air pump that they have scavenged from ANAMUSEMENT in the space where they want to set the tent up, then attach a pneumatic rod that extends rather high up in the center. After securing the top of the tent to the rod, they activate the pump and let the tent rise up. The seats are all put together inside the tent, with various Flame Edenite heaters being placed close to the seats to keep the visitors warm. A handful of vendors are also set up within the tent, selling various kinds of foods for all to enjoy!

Awww New Miami misses out on the circus! This is a fun - but weirdly terrifying - article. I think I'll give the circus a miss, thank you!
