The Refounded Organization in OmniVerse | World Anvil

The Refounded

The Refounded are one of the many survivor groups that are located within the frozen wasteland. Lead by Adrian Briggs from the town of Moonblight, The Refounded have taken up a good chunk of the land within the vast wasteland that was once America. They are allied with those within the Navajo Clan, The Order Of The Holy Stone, and those who call themselves Nomans.

Culture

Those within The Refounded tend to be loyal to each other, with grievances towards one's nationality, gender identity, sexuality, and the like having increasingly diminished over the several decades within the frozen wasteland; although those who are of Russian nationality still face discrimination to this day due to Soviet Russia's part in the destruction of the world. They are altruistic in nature, often lending aid to their allies within the lands occupied by the Navajo Clan and The Order; and the occasional groups of Nomans that pass by in the area. Despite the good will that is generally on display, however, a majority of those within The Refounded have become jaded, with emotions often reaching a high point for some rather quickly. Much like the old way of life, premeditated murder is treated as a crime, with the guilty party either being locked away for the rest of their life or, with the worse cases, such as what occured with Jonathan Nolan; being left out in the middle of the frozen wasteland, left to die.

Assets

The current population of those within The Refounded is estimated to be around 17,000 persons. The Refounded's Army is estimated to have 1,000 enlisted, not including the thirty-five trained warriors in the Overwatch Of The Refounded, which is lead by James Volkov. Their common means of transportation includes the usage of Snow Gliders, Husky & German Shepard Sleighing, and Horseback. There are seven cities aligned to The Refounded, surviving and assisting each other in the frozen wasteland that they all are trying to survive in.

Moonblight

Moonblight
Settlement | Jan 20, 2022

Welcome to Moonblight.

The capital of The Refounded and a town that once existed under the preview of the Deepcore Foundation, Moonblight is the one city with the highest population count that the group can manage.

New Miami

New Miami
Settlement | Dec 20, 2020

Once a popular town located down in Florida, New Miami has become a frozen town located as far from civilization as possible, in the middle of nowhere.

New Miami is located at the tip of Florida, established on the remains of what used to be the wonderful skyline city of Miami. Located a close distance near the crater of Old Miami and with odd sightings in the area such as the DSM New Moon, New Miami is one of the more enigmatic towns in The Refounded.

Fort Hope

Fort Hope
Settlement | Dec 1, 2020
Acting as a reserve for The Refounded's army, as well as containing a large stockpile of weaponry and tools in the center of the surrounding town, Fort Hope is one of the more important locations for The Refounded; with it's army on standby if it's ever needed to defend against attackers or another stampede of Living Ice.

Ground Control

Ground Control
Settlement | Feb 3, 2021
Where the town of Houston and the once proud cornerstone of the Space Race, NASA, used to be, Ground Control is a spacious area that has been converted into a town for the survivors within The Refounded to reside in, making use of the various machinery and minerals that are in the area.

Mississippi River Community

Mississippi River Community
Settlement | Dec 1, 2020
Constructed by those who lived along the Mississippi River, the MRC is a fairly sizeable area, where the profession of Searchers really began to take off thanks to Adamska. The community lives on both sides of the river, connected via various bridges that stretch across the frozen river...

Ashland

Ashland
Settlement | Dec 1, 2020
With snow thick with ash and skies dark from an unknown source, Ashland is a small community of people residing under The Refounded, in proximity to Reactor Von HELIOS and Port Sinclair. Their biggest source of food comes from the port, resulting in the diet of those within the area being partly composed of fish.

Geoshare Mine

Geoshare Mine
Settlement | Jul 13, 2021
Geoshare Mine is a former Deepcore Foundation mine constructed in 1945. Built up using the strong Depthmektal within it, the mine has been refurbished by those in the area into a living area, acting as protection from the harsh cold.

History

For history about Moonblight, please see it's article.
In the timespan between the day World War III occured on October 25th, 1962; and the world freezing over afterward, the first city to be able to survive the first few days was Moonblight, with it being one of the Deepcore Foundation's Code NENO mining towns, at least before its existence was realized in the month prior to World War III. Once the war broke out and caused the entire planet to freeze, Mark Briggs; the mayor of Moonblight at the time, led a revolt against the members of the Deepcore Foundation, citing them as the reason the world ended up turning out the way it did. As a result, the survivors had managed to get their hands on various tools and weaponry to aid them in the years afterward, especially once Living Ice began to appear.   Around a year later, on September 4th; the first embers that would lead to the formation of The Refounded began when Moonblight came into contact with the survivors who lived in both Ashland and Geoshare Mine. At the suggestion of Mark Briggs, the three settlements would band together, with the goal of refounding America and what it stood for in this frozen wasteland. In 1971, they would link up with those residing in Ground Control, with both The Refounded and the community within Ground Control creating Fort Hope to act as a checkpoint between both areas. Over time, Fort Hope would eventually become a ground for those within The Refounded to store their reserve weaponry, with more and more living in the area as part of a military reserve if the need ever arises. Around the time the Mississippi River Community was discovered and brought into The Refounded, they had become aware of the Frozen Core. Rather quickly, tensions were high between both groups of survivors due to the Deepcore Foundation's part in starting World War III, and although the Frozen Core would slowly show that it can be trustworthy; especially after The New Order Revolt occurred with the old Deepcore leadership being outed, tensions between them and The Refounded remain strained to this day.   On March 30th, 1972, A Searcher by the name of Sam Hurst made contact with the survivors within the Navajo Clan using a radio system that he had been steadily working on and fixing up over the past few months. With a group of other Searchers, he would make a trek to the Navajo Clan, reaching them a month later on April 28th. When they arrived, along with meeting the head chieftain, Kilchii Peshlakai; they would meet with Damian Price, the leader of The Order Of The Holy Stone. On that day, relations between the three groups would be established, with each of them coming to the other's aid when needed. At the same time, they would be exposed to The Umbra within the Shadowlands, whom both the Navajo and The Order warn are dangerous and not to be trifled with.   On June 4th, 1974, Mark Briggs would be attacked by a Living Ice, exposing him to Acute Freezing Syndrome and taking his life five days later on June 9th. Since then, his son, Adrian Briggs has taken over leadership of The Refounded, being the one responsible for having New Miami join up with The Refounded in 1975.

Nice overview of the Refounded. :D I really like the fact that they are generally loyal to each other despite differences.
