Liberator

The Seeker-Captain of Pilgrim's Watch, Viktor Traven, is a master swordsman and is especially proficient with his personal weapon, a greatsword that he has dubbed Liberator.

Materials and Construction

Like all of the weapons of the Seekers, Liberator is forged from Weeping Steel by the master craftsmen employed by the fellowship. Viktor has, however, requested a few structural changes that set the sword apart from others of its kind. The fullers on either side of the sword are shallower than what is considered standard, resulting in a stiffer blade while still being somewhat lighter than a sword without fullers.
The edge is honed to a razor-sharp finish, maintained meticulously by Viktor, who often says that a dull blade is an insult to the steel’s craftsmanship and to the Progenitor itself.
The pommel on the handle is also detachable and is actually a small container filled with the Tears of the Divine, providing Viktor with one last supply of the fluid should the vials he is carrying on his belt be insufficient. Applying the tears from such a container is also more expedient than first removing a vial from his belt.

Personal Significance

For Viktor, Liberator is far more than a blade; it is a tangible manifestation of his identity and purpose.
The sword’s name is no mere title—it is a declaration of Viktor's role as a Seeker, sworn to the protection of all life on Nascindor. Every feature of Liberator, from the sanctified steel of its blade to the significance of its title, reflects his commitment to protecting the innocent and combating the forces of evil.   When Viktor grips Liberator's hilt, he is reminded of the oath he swore to the church of Resounding Truth and to himself: to be a light in the darkness, to wield his strength with temperance and to fight not for glory but because it is the right thing to do.
The sword’s craftsmanship mirrors his own discipline and resolve, while its divine connection symbolizes the higher purpose that guides his every action.

Weapon of Renown

Much like is the case with the Seeker-Captain of the Circle of Dawn, Wilhelm Greust, the church has taken every opportunity to sell Liberator to the common folk as this mythical, heaven-sent weapon that is no less than destined to strike at the Adversary itself.
Viktor personally protests this depiction but understands the importance of nurturing hope, so he does play along with the narrative during public outings that his fellowship often takes part in. He does draw the line in theatrical mock battles where the capabilities of the blade would be greatly exaggerated and refuses to take part in any such events.
Thankfully, it is often enough for the populace to simply see him with the sword to bolster their faith and dissuade their worries about the Black Forest.
After all, if warriors such as Viktor, armed with weapons such as Liberator are safeguarding them, the realm is surely safe, no?
With this blade, I will free us of evil.
Behold, as I hold aloft the Liberator!
