Raux

Raux is the largest settlement in Ethea and also the Capital City of the continent. The only civilization predating that of Raux were the inhabitants of the Ruins of Al'Tea in the south. Humans have been the only race to have control of Raux since records began and have defended it well in several attempts of capture in the past. Home to The Council Of Raux who govern Ethea from the Council Chambers near the city center. While other local authorities may have their own laws and traditions they all follow the law of Raux. Headquarters of the Black Guard, an outfit that defends and protects the city and the other human settlements. When sighted outside of cities they usually accompany important trade vessels or guard important people and are highly skilled fighters.   The city is surrounded by thick 25-35ft high stone walls with four heavily reinforced gates, one towards the north, east, south and west points of the city. Towers break up long sections of wall and large bolt throwers and cannons serve as a deterrent against any form of attack.   Moving out from the city center, a vibrant mix of different class traders and estates emerges. The large variety of structures littered throughout Raux gives the city a rather unique look and feel, nearly every building has a different height and shape to the one beside it, usually a different colour for good measure.   The main export of Raux is gold, stamped with the crest of the Council, imbued with special magic to ensure it can not be tampered with or altered. Some of it is mined directly underneath the city where large deposits sit but the majority is harvested from the mines in the Hosk Mountains. The North Raux Highway is well travelled and patrolled because of this.   The land, farms and other buildings north and south of the city belong to the various barons, lords and ladies of Raux.
