Session 040 - Meeting with the Enemy
General Summary
Date 9th to the 15th of Navek (11) 720TR (Winter)
The story so far
The Church of Naveh is planning to summon the Greater Gytevsha Krasula on the night of Shadowmath, in only a couple of weeks, bringing devastation to the City of Coranan. The heroes plan to intervene and are seeking allies even among existing enemies.
Sir Scarow the Order of the Cohorts of Gashang knight, based at Themeson Castle may such an ally. The problem is he has challenged Athena to a duel to the death.
Additionally, the Heroes have set up a ruse, forging a letter from the High Priestess of the Order of the Eight Demons to the High priest of the Church of Naveh saying she knows his identity. Hopefully, this will provoke a conflict.
Part 1 - Wyverns Attack
The heroes travel on the winters roads to Themeson when they find a damaged wagon with 2 Wyverns feeding on a nearby horse and some human corpses. One of the Wyverns is unusually large and dangerous; however, the heroes quickly deal with them. They offer a surprisingly little challenge but supply plenty of body parts and trophies.
Part 2 - Visit to the Woods
The party arrive at Themeson, and get a room at the Burning Ember Inn and observe that it is somewhat quieter and less boisterous than their previous visit.
Athena also notes that the Wraiths of the Red Shadows of Hepra Knights, who also haunt the Woods, are also present and appear stronger than during her previous visit.
Part 3 - A Successful Meeting.
The heroes learn that;
- Negotiations have completed between the Thardic Republic and the Kingdom of Rethem, and a treaty is expected to be signed shortly. This will require Themeson Castle and lands to be returned to the Thardic Republic. As a result, the Cohorts of Gashang will no longer have the income to support such a large army and are planning to downsize. Excess soldiers will be assigned to a mercenary company, lead by Grandmaster Crasel, who will retire from the Order.
- The new mercenary company will have the contract to guard the City of Coranan the walls, docks, and markets as well as other duties which are not disclosed. As Sir Crasel will shortly be responsible for enforcing the cities law and order he thinks it would be an excellent goodwill gesture for him to be seen acting in its interest. He is moving several Companies of the Cohorts of Gashang to Coranan to provide additional security to the Eight Demons Temple, and he is willing to order an assault the Hidden temple of Naveh, provided the heroes join in.
Lucia, Athena's squire, is concerned that her father, Derik Kalormar, a member of the Wardens of Corthir, the current mercenary company employed to guard Coranan's city walls, will lose his job. Crasel agrees to accept any of the Cities current guards into his yet to be formed mercenary company.
Additionally, Grandmaster Crasel forbids Sir Scarow from taking part in any duel to the death until the current crisis is over.
Part 4 - The Winds and Crows
With the negotiations over the party starts traveling back to Coranan, when without warning Quazzy is attacked by creatures made of air, invisible, flying executioners. These move to kill Quazzy, however, Athena intercepts and destroys one. Quazzy is pummeled and very nearly killed, but eventually, the remaining two elementals are destroyed.

Negotiated peace temporary and an alliance with the Order of the Cohorts of Gashang. The party and the Cohorts agree to attack and destroy the hidden temple of Navean assassins.
