The Sacrifice of Meyasania

Some of the inspiration and details are derived from Colombia Games.

Meyasania, is a legendary Priestess of Agrik who exploded in a burst of Balefire killing the Tyrant Peserl the Heart Stealer while leading a rebellion against Peserl's Morgathic army.

Her fiery spirit is said to haunt the Gibbet Woods, near Castle of Themeson with the wraiths of Eight Order of the Red Shadows of Hepra Knights who were martyred in 714TR.

Summary

In 558TR, Castle of Themeson fell to a Morgathic army, led by Peserl Lorseriel, also known as Peserl the Heart Stealer, and he ruled it brutally until 588TR.

A rebellion was led by Meyasania a priestess of Agrik of the Order of Hepra the Mace. In the woods, it is said that the insurgents clashed with the armies of the Heart Stealer and Meyasania was captured. To demoralize the rebels Peserl planned to sacrifice Meyasania to Morgath, by tearing out her heart, but at the last moment the priestess grabbed Peserl and calling upon her god and burst into searing balefire. Persal was incinerated, Meyasania was consumed by her flames, and the Agrikain rebels rallied and slaughtered the Morgathic forces.

Spread

The Gibbet Woods has a long history of supernatural sightings, the most commonly a vengeful spirit wreathed in flame, usually seen as a protector to women.

Morgathic priests and worshipers never enter the Woods, and it is said if undead enter they will burn as if they are trapped in the strongest sunlight.

The priestesses of the Order of the Eight Demons actively avoid these woods, possibly because Meyasania was a member of the rival order of Order of Hepra the Mace.

Variations & Mutation

The Order of the Eight Demons claims to have found a document declaring that Meyasania was pregnant and gave birth to a flaming demon which enveloped and killed Peserl. The Order of Hepra the Mace claim this is a blatant lie and an obvious attempt to undermine one of their most revered heroines.

A more recent legend has it that eight knights of the Order of the Red Shadows of Hepra were the last defenders of Themeson Castle in 714TR during the recent religious upheaval. They refused to renounce their order and died slowly in the gibbets hanging in the woods. It is said that each knight voluntarily rejected admission into the afterlife and vowed to walk the earth as wraiths until the Order of the Eight Demons are destroyed.
