Sir Crasel Merbed is the former Grandmaster (Akarata) of the Order of the Cohorts of Gashang and steward of Themeson Castle.
He has retired and now leads a mercenary company, the Sons of Gashang, guarding the walls, gates, and markets of the City of Coranan. He is wealthy and may have other ambitions.

Personal history
Sir Crasel Merbed is the youngest son of a slaver and joined the Order of the Red Shadows of Hepra as his opportunities to inherit was limited.
He was knighted 681TR after proving to be a cunning and a skilled administrator. He demonstrated his martial skill during Ezar's War (682 to 697TR) eventually attained the rank of Deputy Grandmaster and granted administrative control over Castle of Themeson when it was annexed from the Thardic Republic.
He conspired with Merele Kantar, a high priestess of the Order of Hepra the Mace to incited a split within the order and was one of the reasons the coup succeeded, founding the Order of the Cohorts of Gashang. Although not considered partially devout, he ruled Themeson as his own feudal domain, until it was handed back to the Republic in 721TR. The then retired with considerable wealth extorted from the Themeson district.
In 722TR he found The Sons of Gashang a mercenary company 50 strong with a contract to guard City of Coranan gates walls and markets.
