City of Coranan
Coranan is Hârn’s largest city and capital of the Thardic Republic.
It is a very cosmopolitan city’s with many palaces, and major buildings are the legacy of the once-powerful Corani Empire. Now home to the Senate of the Republic, Coranan remains the center of Thardic power and patronage.
The city consists of several districts, all separated by walls and patrolled by semi-autonomous bodies of armed guards.
Demographics
The vast majority of the population are Hârnian. There are a few Jarin, mostly Ilivir worshipping pilgrims and some Ivinian mercenaries.
Slaves and mercenaries from nearby tribal nations are also present in small numbers.
Dwarven merchants and Elven visitors are few, and in the latter case, usually in disguise.
Government
Coranan is the seat of the Senate and capital of the Thardic Republic.
The city itself is governed by two officials, both appointed by the Senate for one-year terms.
The Prefect - handles financial, judicial, and other civic matters and is effectively a mayor. The current Prefect, in his 6th term, is the scholarly and frail Toribir Wejik, a man well respected by the Senate.
The warden - commands the Red Guard and is responsible for defense and security.
Defences
Coranan is very well defended with impressive walls and guard towers.
The Citadel - an impressive fortress and base of the Red Guard.
Kuseme Castle - headquarters of the Eidel Legion.
The Red Guard is the "Elite'' of the Republic legions in theory responsible for the cities security, but common patrolling is beneath their dignity. They are only active at the Citadel and around the Chamber of Red Domes and key government buildings plus around the senatorial elite.
The private mercenary company the Wardens of Corthir holds the contract to man the city walls and gates.
By law, members of the Eidel Legion, based at Kuseme Castle, cannot step foot over the Thard River. Nevertheless less they are a potent military force.
Most wealthy and powerful residents retain private guards; some are the size of small armies. Rivalries between these paramilitary units can be extreme and sometimes escalate into violence.
Industry & Trade
Coranan is a rich city with significant sources of income.

Salt and iron are mined nearby, and the city exports locally manufactured brasswares, pottery, and textiles.Trade

Attacus, I enjoy following your world and watching it grow,i also like reading your session logs too.Your articles have fantastic images and logo's etc.I would just like to know where you create your coat-of-arms/sigil's,is there a web site? I was given a site by Salen, when i asked about his,and that was useful,i also found one myself what i have used, but all the sites i have found are limited with icons etc.this would sure help for my world. Let me know either way, many Thanks.
Hi Aemon. Thanks for the feedback. Some of the Coat of Arms I use are from the excellent Colombia games products. The rest I created myself. I have made Blank CoAs using Coral Paintshop and combine them heraldry symbol I have found over the web. I often use http://www.heraldicclipart.com/catalog/index.html.
