Keodal District
Keodal is the northeastern most district of the Duchy of Paglary. It shares a border with the nation of Asmaton and the Northrend Province.
History
The County of Keodal was established as a buffer against Asmaton expansionism in the east and as a defense against the goblins of The Spine mountain range. It is widely believed that the now extinct Phasnosh Civilization was the original inhabitants of this area, and this claim is supported by the myriad Phasnosh ruins dotting the countryside. Subsequent to their kingdom's collapse, various Dwarf clans moved into the region, including Clan Hammersmith with their primary city located in the mountains.
As the young Tuvocan Empire began to coalesce and spread eastward, however, they came into contact - usually amicably - with the various Dwarf clans and eventually into conflict with the goblins of the region. Small garrisons would be established and the surrounding support encampments would grow into towns that would continue to explore and map the nearby areas for resources.
By 1015, the area that was generally referred to as "Keedle" - from the Dwarf word for "lush valley" - had become administratively governed from Silverward. This extended distance coupled with the growing population of both Keodal and Trepia would create the justification to formally establish the County of Keodal.
In 1026, the Charter of Wolfwater established the County of Keodal and and allowed for the formal solidification of borders with Asmaton and the establishment of more formal diplomatic ties with the Dwarf clans.
