The Tuvocan Empire
The Tuvocan Empire fancies itself to be the sole line of defense against the goblin and orcish hordes of the Lifeless Expanse. It is, in fact, a kingdom past its twilight and in steady decline. This is due, in no small part, to the constant raids by barbarians to the north, goblins and orcs to the east, corruption and political infighting among the elite, and an inability to deal with the influx of refugees stemming from conflicts to the south.

Demography and Population
The population of the Tuvocan Empire is primarily human, however, there are significant pockets of dwarves in the eastern reaches. Large populations of elves inhabit many of the major cities and occupy many high ranking positions of government. While there is no official policy regarding race relations, the problem of racism, particularly among some elite that may feel threatened, is a very real one.
Territories
Military
The Tuvocan military is one steeped in tradition, for good and ill. The inability to keep pace with the technological development of continental powers, such as The Iron Confederacy, have led some to question whether or not the institutions dedicated to the defense of the empire would actually be able to perform adequately.
The military relies primarily on a combination of light and heavy infantry. The limited cavalry is due mainly to a lack of horses, as opposed to a refusal to adopt the tactic. Other nations, such as Skaydor and the Photus Empire have made excellent use of massed cavalry over the years.
Security in some of the larger towns and cities is usually provided by a combination of military garrisons and local law enforcement. The smaller towns and villages typically rely on local militias for protection.
The Tuvocan Empire also maintains an intelligence and security apparatus - The Sovereign's Shadow - which is answerable only to the monarch. Little is publicly known about this organization, other than they reportedly have eyes and ears in many places.
Foreign Relations
The Tuvocan Empire maintains relationships with all the nations of Autria. To this end, it keeps embassies in all the capitol cities as well as a number of consulates within some of the major cities.
Relations with Asmaton
Despite this fact, the relationship with Asmaton is tense. The tension derives primarily from the fact that Asmaton is either unable or unwilling to exert control of the goblin and orcish hordes within the Lifeless Expanse, thereby making the eastern edge of the empire a constant source of insecurity. Relations with Cralac The Tuvocan's Empire relationship with Cralac is much the same as every other nation's relationship with them: practically non-existent. Cralac's xenophobic and isolationist tendencies preclude the establishment of an embassy within their capitol of Akad, instead forcing nations to establish themselves in the port city of Rhaqer.Relations with the Rugalla Dynasty
The Empire has always enjoyed a positive trading relationship with the Rugalla Dynasty, located to its south. The war between the Dynasty and the The Iron Confederacy has reduced the amount of trade between the two nations over the past few years and has placed an incredible strain on the Empire due to the refugee crisis that has poured across its southern borders.Agriculture & Industry
The Tuvocan Empire is a largely agriculturally-based economy, with pockets of industry scattered among some of the larger towns and cities. Compared to their neighbors in The Iron Confederacy, the Tuvocan Empire still has not caught up in terms of mass production capabilities.
Wine is produced in the Baintham River Valley, particularly in the southwest portion of Paglary and the north of Boclia and Oscos provinces.
Mining operations, overseen by the Miner's Guild headquartered in Sunhall, generally conduct expeditions and surveying in The Spine. Towns such as Bellhollow and Hillfar act as springboards and supply points into the mountains.
Trade & Transport
Trade Relations
The Tuvocan Empire has traditionally enjoyed strong economic ties with its neighbor to the south, the Rugalla Dynasty. However, a long and brutal war between the Rugallans and their neighbors, The Iron Confederacy, have led to a sharp decline in economic growth in the Tuvocan Empire. An influx of refugees have put a strain on the kingdom's resources, and unemployment is on the rise. As a result, tensions in the south and eastern portions of the kingdom have been on a steady rise. Trade routes to the east are generally considered difficult and not cost-effective due to the difficult terrain of The Spine, the roving bands of orcs and goblins, and the lack of transportation infrastructure in the area.Transportation
A network of paved roads connects most major towns in an east-west fashion across the kingdom. Several towns, including the capitol, sit on the water, thereby providing access to shipping lanes.Maps
