The Sovereign's Shadow
The Sovereign's Shadow is the secret intelligence organization of the Tuvocan Empire. The group answers only to the king or queen. Little is currently known about the group, save that their reputation among the criminals of the world is one to be feared.
Public Agenda
The aim of the Sovereign's Shadow is to provide timely, accurate, and actionable intelligence to the king and queen on both internal and external security matters.
Assets
While the full extent of the Sovereign's Shadow's resources is not known, it is clear that they are able to bring to bear considerable capabilities. They tend to select from some of the better ranks of the military as well as from academia and magecraft. Their influence extends far and wide, with the authority to take control of a local garrison or military unit on the orders of an agent; however, this is generally frowned upon as it tends to have the undesired effect of publicizing their existence.
History
The Sovereign's Shadow was founded in 926 following the assassination of King Spencer Edison by Asmatonian agents and the ensuing war with Asmaton. The newly crowned King Royce Edison recognized the need to be able to preempt and disrupt plots against the crown and its interests without drawing the attention that the military or more conventional security forces would bring.
Military
The Sovereign's Shadow maintains a sizeable paramilitary force that it uses to guard its facilities and to carry out covert actions when more force is needed. This is in addition to their agents that often keep a presence in various keeps, castles, and baileys across the country as liaisons and nodes for source networks. Separate to that, they also own several airships of various sizes and capabilities which can often be found in the larger cities.
The organization also deploys agents to other countries to gather information and conduct operations as needed.
