Port-Entre-Portes

Literally the "port between ports", this city started as a small settlement used as a resting place for passing ships. It has now become a major trade centre between the northern and southern parts of Lainshoa - specifically those north of the Great Rages and those south of the mountain range and on the eastern side of the continent. They receive major trade from Ellenar and the different cities of the Malgrii Empire.

Demographics

Made mostly of humans of the working class - fishermen, sailors, farmers, tradesmen - with a few Ælfen and Enar people. The majority of the population of the island is in the city proper.

Government

Ruled by a council of elders chosen from each of the major trades represented, including dockworkers, sailors. soldiers/guards, farmers, shipwrights, and half a dozen or so other skilled trades. They are represented by an elected official who is chosen every 3 years titled "L' échevin". Obviously guilds are very strong here!

Industry & Trade

Serving as a port between the north and south has made this place into a major trade centre, as it allows the traders to travel a shorter distance to trade their goods. Spices from the south can make it to here, then be resold and traded to the north. Likewise any goods from the north, such as grains and metals, can be traded here for further shipping southward. Porte-entre-Portes is also a major fishing centre and supplies a lot of seafood to its citizens as well as trading some foods that aren't available elsewhere to those areas north or south of it.

The most sought after nightlife in Port-Entre-Portes is found at Le gros Coquelet Noir, a nightclub ran by a large Strakko man named Ygrasch who prefers to wear women's skirts. He has different shows, including acting, drag shows, concerts, and more, depending on the season and who is traveling to the city.
