Enar

Enar live primarily in the city called Ellenar. Ellenar is built half over the water on the eastern coast. This city serves as a major trade centre between the northern and southern kingdoms, as it is a half-way point for many. Enar are an unusual humanoid. They are almost as much like dolphins as they are like humans. They have skin colouration which ranges between those of all humans and dolphins to greenish, blue and even brown and black highlights. Their hair colour is usually similar to their skin, but of slightly darker values. Eyes are most commonly green, but may be yellow, brown, black, blue or grey. Enar can hold their breath up to twenty minutes, but this is lessened by exertion. These are a very lawful people, stressing equality, fairness and honesty. Their ideals may sometimes resemble those of the nearby Ælfen communities. They have a strong police force, which is made up of some excellent warriors. Only the best will be allowed to join these forces, others must be content with the local armed forces (militia, navy or marines). While their laws are very strict and efficient, it is rare for an innocent to suffer. It is also rare for any criminal to get away with any crime. Their police and courts are more efficient than Earth’s justice systems, and often far fairer. The Enar marines are made of units of people who are capable of fighting on land, on ship, and while in or under water. They are always larger in size than the average Enar and are in excellent health. The Enar are ruled by a monarch who has a very involved council of representatives elected from each part of the city (8 council members). Since they are a major trade centre, they will have access to almost any commodity found on Lainshoa. They also offer great hospitality to tourists and traders, and have a great variety of crafts, art and culinary items available for sale. Enar are known to work with dolphins. Some of their wizards can communicate with these sea mammals, and it is known that such are intelligent. There are some specialized marine forces that work with dolphins, as well as police and civilian occupations. There is very little gender discrimination. The Enar are aware that their males are larger and stronger on average than their females, therefore the military and police forces reflect this, but they are also aware of the advantage females have with magic, and related careers reflect this as well. Enar mages cannot learn fire elemental magic, and Enar witches cannot contact fire spirits, nor learn this area of Witchery.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Enar eat a lot of fish! Their diets consists of a wide variety of seafood and plant life. They rarely eat mammals. Birds are not an uncommon meal, but seafood is always preferred. They will eat as opportunity presents itself, having small meals and snacks throughout the day. There are a few feast times, coinciding with religious and seasonal festivals.
Most food is eaten fresh and raw. Cooked food is considered a delicacy, although any bird or mammal flesh will typically be cooked.

Lifespan

As with most species, there is high infant and youth mortality. Enar are relatively long-lived, with the average living 300 years, and the ancient being over that.
