Evsalom Darkam (Ev-sa-loam Dar-kahm)
Evsalom is a human Rahott Malelian nobleman who was in the town of Gharob when the earthquake struck. He fell into the river, where he was able to swim to safety and help the other survivors out.
Evsalom has attempted to have some control over the group of survivors, believing this to be his responsibility as a lord.
Personality
Evsalom tries to epitomize the ideas of knightly chivalry and noble responsibility. He is a brave man and wishes to do well by those who serve him and those he serves. A strongly ethical man, he is a devout worshipper of all the Guardians, believing that a noble must encapsulate the values taught by all of them, though he does struggle with Aruvian and Oramic worship.<br><br>While a good man at heart, Evsalom is also extremely vain and proud, and he has a bit of a temper. If he feels disrespected, he has no compunction against demanding satisfaction.<br><br>Due to his experiences in Netviz, Evsalom is suspicious of Viz elves and elves in general, though he does not hate them, and in some ways has sympathy for them.
Evsalom has shown himself as being a courageous figure, willing to put himself in danger for others. He has shown himself as being a bit... quick to act, and perhaps not the most intelligent person. While he is proud of his nobility, and seems to believe that it means he has a responsibility to lead, he does take the well-being of the rest of group seriously.

History
<br>Evsalom’s father is the brother to the current Baron of Nariman, and as such holds little in terms of titles. He is a nobleman, but a landless one. Growing up, his parents taught him to not feel lessened by his lower noble status, teaching him the responsibilities that a nobleman has to society.<br><br>When he was a young boy he was sent to Asgarov to be trained as a full knight of Rahott Malel. He excelled at his training as a squire, and was knighted at the age of 14. He was then conscripted into the Empire’s army, sent to Netviz to fight against the Viz Rebellion. To his good fortune, the war was mostly over by the time he arrived there, but he heard the stories and witnessed some of the monstrosities of Netviz during that short time.<br><br>The mission that stuck with Evsalom the most was when his squad were commanded to clear out a rebel village. During the operation, strange crocodilian beasts attacked the village. Many of Evsalom’s fellow knights fled, but he and a few others remained, working with their former enemies to fight back against the monstrosities. A losing battle, he too was forced to retreat, but he did so while leading a group of women and children out of the village.<br><br>After the war, Evsalom returned to Rahott Malel, unsure of what to do with his future. He has been considering joining one of the Holy Orders of the Congregation, but took a trip to Gharob, a family holding, where he hoped to meet with his cousin Abdamar.
The Mushroom Seam
When Evsalom fell into the Seam he landed in the river, he immediately swam for safety. Just as he was coming ashore, he saw Kaziel, dived back in and grabbed him by the horn in order to drag him out of the river. While Kaziel dried off, Evsalom dived back in, going to help Davaa save Haida. After pulling her to safety on the mushroom crown Kaziel had dropped, Evsalom stayed by Haida’s side, breathing life back into her. After the battle, Evsalom tried to take control of the party on the grounds that he was a noble, however Davaa and the others argued that the ranger would be better for finding their way out of the Seam. Evsalom, perhaps reluctantly, agreed to this and began traveling with the group following Davaa’s lead. Later, when Semolina and Ataidas left the party to search for the source of the sound, Evsalom declared that he could not allow them to go it alone and joined them. This then caused a large shift, with most of the party moving ahead, leaving only Nadir, Haida, Sahar and Saidari behind. When the party approached the figure that was the source of the strange noise, Evsalom was prepared to jump into battle and attack it, with only the party members convincing him to stay back. When the horned creatures arrived, however, Evsalom flung himself into battle, fighting alongside Bixi and helping her to take down two of the horned slingers. Later, during a discussion regarding how to escape the Seam, and Davaa's revealing that they must go either up or down, Evsalom became convinced that he must swim to the bottom of the river. It was only Haida who was able to convince him not to do so. Later in the evening, Evsalom approached Kaziel to ask him about his nobility. During the conversation, it was revealed that Kaziel had met Evsalom's cousin, Abdamar, but that he was dead and returned his signet ring. Evsalom, devastated, went off on his own to consider this news. Haida, who had been showing signs of wanting to be close to Evsalom, approached Kaziel. She revealed that she knows a certain piece of information about Evsalom that she had hoped to blackmail Abdamar with. However, with Abdamar's death, her plans need changing. She asked Kaziel to help her, and make sure that nothing happens to Evsalom.
