Session 3: Gravday, 27 Twisting Veil, 1417
General Summary
Last time on Semolina and Those Other People, the party foolishly found itself battling against a strange plant creature and furry horned creatures that had tried to steal gems from it. Afterward, the party camped out, being quite insulting, though they did agree to give Semolina one of those crystal shards they had collected. At some point, a monster had spoken in Semolina's head, but nobody believed her when she said something would come to eat them. Lo-and-behold, the next day as the group continued to trek through the Mushroom Seam they were attacked by those fleshy horrors they had first encountered in the Seam.
As the party trekked through shin high swampy waters, they saw a fleshy humanoid creature with four withered arms and tentacles hanging from its face pointing towards the party of survivors. Standing before the horror, prepared for attack were two of the loping horrors they had first encountered. The courageous Bixi rushed forward to do battle with the horrors. As she moved forward, slithering horrors began to descend from mushrooms, surrounding her.
Davaa rushed to Bixi's side, and the two engaged the enemies. As Bixi smashed her through the slitherers, Davaa took out the loping horrors. Nadir came to their aid, calling upon the Eventide to protect his companions. Kaziel, further to the back and among the other survivors, found himself fighting off more slitherers and thorn-shooting mushrooms.
When the slitherers grew too close, Evsalom, Haida no longer able to hold him back, jumped into fray. Whilst Bixi continued to smash all the slitherers around her, Davaa and Nadir began to pursue the Tentacled Horror from atop the mushroom. Davaa threw daggers at it, while Nadir tried to move around from the north. Kaziel sent it running with a spell. Though it turned back for a moment, as it witnessed its slitherers being wiped out and began to take more and more damage from the party, it began to flee. Nadir, however, would not let it escape, bringing it down with the Veil of Night.
After bringing down the Tentacled Horror, the party began investigating the corpses of their enemies. Bixi found that by shaking them, she could find gems that would fall out from their cuts and wounds, collecting blue gems from the slitherers and green gems from the lopers.
Davaa and Nadir, investigated the tentacled horror, dissecting it and discovering that its insides were... recognizable to some degree, except that sitting where its heart should be was a purple gemstone. Darcassian stopped Nadir as the gems were being collected, expressing concern about taking things from outsiders, a thing all Mavom elves know not to do. Nadir asked his friend to trust him, though his concerns were not assuaged.
Despite Bixi's desire to take a small rest so that she may work on her friendship bracelets, the party decided to move forward. Davaa and Bixi scouted for the rest of the party, helping Ataidas with making her map. While they traveled, both Davaa and Darcassian began to hear that strange noise coming from the northeast, not far from the direction they were heading.
As they grew closer to the ruins, Nadir sent Nura out to scout the ruins, where she saw that the horned creatures and fleshy horrors were in the midst of a battle with each other, the horned ones holding fort in a large building while trying to break through into the ruins of a tower.
As the sky began to transition from red to purple, the party arrived at the ruins. Bixi helped lift Davaa over a wall, where he spotted a battle. Nadir then sent Nura to scout ahead, while the rest of the party waited for the battle to finish.
During that wait, Bixi managed to make one of her friendship bracelets using two of the gem shards.
After the horned creatures had wiped out the horrors, Bixi approached while the others stayed hidden, offering the friendship bracelet to the brute. It spoke to her in her mind, "Gawah gawahaioho, hurrgah..."
The creature began to lead Bixi and the others towards the large building. Kaziel, staying hidden to the side, went the other way, where he came across a large broken statue that he recognized as being a representation of one of the Dominion Lords, though which one he could not recognize.
Whilst this was occuring, Nura continued to scout the ruins, revealing that a battle was still being waged over the ruins of the tower.
The party was led into the large building, where they came across many of the horned creatures, including a larger creature who stood on two legs and wore a dirty ragged loincloth. The creatures attempted to speak to Bixi, but nothing could be understood. When she offered another gemstone, they took it and the leader brought it over to a thorned bowl laying on a table. It smashed the gemstone over a spike in the center of the bowl, piercing itself even, and as the shards of gemstones mixed with his blood in the bowl they became a thick liquid.
The creature took this syrupy liquid and spread it over his chest. The others all approached and began to do this as well. Then Kaziel stepped in, and spoke to the creature in the language of his people... and it responded in an archaic version of Vialo.
Kaziel learned that the creatures served a Dominion Lord, and that they had been trapped down here. They asked him for help defeating the horrors that were invading their home, and then to help lead their people out of this plane. Kaziel convinced them that if they worked with him, and obeyed Bixi, they would indeed be rewarded.
And thus, the party of survivors now finds itself attached to a larger group, all seeking a way out of the Mushroom Seam.
