Onchamos
Government
History has been quite kind to Onchamos the explorer. He was nearly universally derided when he chose to give up most of the recovered wealth on his expedition into the forgotten city in exchange for land rights, but his descendants are royalty. Primogeniture works for the royal family, but since they continue to own all land in the city and only lease it out, most of the nobility and upper class in the city is determined more by wealth than by blood.

Today the city is made up of roughly one quarter of the ruins, partially restored, and is still in large part an expedition to explore the rest.
History
The original name of Onchamos has been lost to history along with nearly all knowledge of the people who settled it. At some point during the Dark Ages, they rebelled against or otherwise offended the Yuan-Ti of Issithoss and the entire population was slaughtered. Some re-population occurred afterwards with new peoples, but when the snake-men’s empire began to collapse the city rebelled once more and was utterly destroyed. Onchamos was the name of the explorer who rediscovered the site and led the first expedition.
