Personal history
When a legendary party of definitely-not-adventurers set sail to certainly-not-adventure from the ports of Oros after graduating from the university, Anaximander was far too young to count himself among them. So he stowed away. He likely would have been brought home, or just deposited at the next port, but the first time he made himself known to the crew was saving all of their lives, steering them out of a reef when the helmsman (and nearly everyone else) was too drunk to do so celebrating one of their successes. The first time he came to the attention of the party was saving one of their lives from a pirate's arrow, the arrow that took his eye. By the time it occurred to anyone that he shouldn't be there, no one would have been willing to go on without him. Over the course of their not-adventures, Anaximander died twice, each time saving one of his fellows from certain death. He was brought back the first time at great expense and the second through great toil. In the end, when none of the others were left save Menandros, he died once more alone. His third resurrection came at the hands of Melite of Pixos, who was courting him at the time. That third death was the first the enormous man regretted, and so he immediately left the group to plant roots.
Education
Anaximander stowed away on a ship as a pre-teen, so has no formal education, but learned much at the feet of and then alongside some of the greatest of Hellenis' heroes.
Employment
Alternates between one of Onchamos' most successful delvers and the captain of the guard in its safest district. He actually chooses the most dangerous district, but as soon as it becomes known that Anaximander is in charge, that sorts itself out quickly.
