Personal history
Menandros' history with medicine began at nearly the same time his life did; he was born as the son and brother of midwives. The minor wars among the city states gave him more than his fair share of practice, and when he was of age he was able to get a formalized education at the University of Oros' College of Anatomy paid for by a minor lord he'd once helped. At school, Menandros met and became fast friends with a group that would go on to travel all across Hellenis performing great deeds and fighting worthy foes. Menandros' skills sharpened further with each carefully-not-called-an-adventure. Despite his great talent, over time fewer and fewer of the group's original number remained. Finally, only Menandros and Anaximander remained, and so they left. Eventually both would settle in Onchamos, a city never lacking in need for people with their talents.
[Menandros is truly dedicated to helping the people of Onchamos, but his real reason for coming to the city remains looking after Basiane, the only child of two of his friends he couldn't save]
Education
Menandros' time at the College of Anatomy was so well-spent that they have named one of their most distinguished awards after him without his even making a donation.
Mental Trauma
The Healer understands that even with his title, it's impossible to save everyone, and he does not despair too much over cases where he did all he could, but the loss of his friends haunts him despite that
