Mnesus grew up poor in Oros, intelligent enough to earn entry to a quality education but not enough to earn scholarships. He spent much of his early life as a slave in exchange for financing his education, a pattern he repeated to gain entry to the University of Oros. He has long since earned his freedom, but continues his association with the University, leading some of its research and archaeological expeditions.
