Province of Pouton Organization in Kalin | World Anvil

Province of Pouton

Situated on the West Coast Pouton is a small Tharrisian Province known for its top-notch sailors and nautical roots. It had avoided the wrath of the Fallen Cities by offering up bribes and the skills of their sailors to placate the more powerful nations around them.   Pouton was handed over to Tharrisia and made a province during Year of the Dragon in the lead up to The Tharrisian War. The last king of Pouton had signed over the nation in his will to Tharrisia and de-legitimized his children. Before an inevitable civil war could start, Tharrisia arrived to help with a "peaceful transition" and consolidate the Province. While questions have been raised about the timing of the event (with many speculating that Aenophentari, the puppeteer behind the Year of the Dragon, had the old king assassinated), the legitimacy of the will has been attested to again and again by native Poutonese in power, as it seemed the Old King worried about the fate of his nation in a Kalin increasingly being swallowed by the Fallen Cities.

Demography and Population

The population is very nautical, with the Pouton navy being well known, and its ports seeing a large amount of trade.

Territories

Pouton controls a respectable area of land, and the geography ranges from rough coast line, to warm climates, to deep forests.

Military

The Poutonese navy was incorporated into the Tharrisian Navy following the Tharrisian War, as it was perhaps Pouton's most valuable asset. This has sky-rocketed the Tharrisian Navies power and prestige around Kalin, which now dominates the Western Sea with only Ithalin as a possible competitor.

Agriculture & Industry

Pouton has a thriving trade business, access to forests and farm land, as well as access to fishing. In terms of food Pouton wants for little. And its shipbuilders are unmatched in Kalin. In raw industrial strength however, it is lacking.

Trade & Transport

Pouton is well known for its trade, with goods coming in and out of Poutonese ports on a regular basis.

Infrastructure

Tharrisia has made a point of updating and improving local Poutonese infrastructure since its incorporation.
