Straka

The Southernmost Fallen City, Straka is geographically isolated, and as such has stayed out of the politics and wars of the north more so than other nations and Fallen Cities.   That said Straka has made a name for itself with its impressive Airship navy and usage of airships for trade. With the vast Desert of Ulb surrounding the city airships are often the safest (and only) way to travel to other parts of Kalin. In fact Straka is the only Fallen City to have ventured past Kalin in recent memory in the somewhat disastrous expedition south in the so called “Strakan Expedition”.   The city is ruled by the Negus, a hereditary monarchical title that is passed down from generation to generation. The current Royal Family of Fa'Ajasa has ruled since the fall of the Torva’Ir many centuries ago.   The city widely worships Hakir, the man-turned god who led the rebellion against the Torva.   The city has become a forefront of Kobold rights due to the presence and political power of Tarkus the blue dragon/kobold.

Demography and Population

Most of Strakan territory is in the Desert of Ulb, which contains very few resources or settlements. The northern part of Straka lies near rivers and the ocean, and allows for more cities and towns. Local lords control larger cities and towns, and from those towns and cities control the villages around them.   Racially Strakan is mostly Human, with Olarks being as common as they are around Kalin and Tieflings and Dragonborn being a surprisingly common sight.

Territories

Straka holds most of the land around it either by default (In the case of the Desert) or by conquest. Most of it has been integrated by now, and considers itself "Strakan".

Military

The Strakan military draws its strength from its airships, sporting the largest and arguably best airship fleet in Kalin. It is said that if the entirety of the Strakan air-fleet were to mass in one place it would blot out the skies.   On the ground the Strakan military is made up of three groups, the main army, the Blades of Hakir, and the professional army.   The professional army is a small dedicated armed force that spends most of its time defending Straka itself, its trade routes, and fighting bandits.   The Blades of Hakir are an elite force that is part military order and part monastic order. On the field of battle they are dangerous, even in the smallest of numbers.   The main army is usually drawn up by lords, and is mostly made up of conscripts and levies.

Technological Level

Strakan airships are the envy of the world. Beyond that though Straka is very average.

Religion

Straka mostly follows The Mantle. Specifically they worship Hakir (Hakir FaAjasa in life), the man that freed Straka from the Torva and ascended to godhood.

Agriculture & Industry

Straka mostly gathers its food from its northern territories, as well as the Oasis the city itself is placed on. Industry mostly revolves around trade and exploration.

Trade & Transport

Straka is very much a traders nation, with many traders calling Straka their home and going out into Kalin or coming back with goods. This is enhanced by the large amount of Strakan Explorers, who explore the desert and the lands of Straka looking for treasure and relics.   Roads in the Desert of Ulb are few, but they do exist, and a wise trader or traveler would use them. For those more adventurous they can attempt to cross the Desert on camels or by horse, though they risk being swallowed by the desert.   Additionally the prevalence of air-ships in Straka makes air travel much easier.

Education

Straka has a robust education system, where younger children are guaranteed basic education which includes simple writing and spelling and mathematics. Anything beyond that either requires exceptional aptitude noticed by educators or being wealthy. This still puts Straka above many commoners in Kalin.
