Egara (Eeeee - gar- AH)

Egara is the second largest city under House Aetius. Established a good ten years after the rise of Aenor, Egara is also the second oldest outpost in the region. As such history and tradition run deep in Egara. The city itself is a hotbed of conservative ideology among the various settlements and are reluctant to change without a practical reason for it.

Despite being a relatively small settlement with basic (at least at first glance) defenses, Egara is a thunder rock defensive capabilities. Between the Wardstone cultivated from the isles and the Ironwood cultivated from the Forest, House Capulet host a formidable, yet unimposing bulwark. Even more impressive is that the whole of the city can act standing army per the policies of House Aetius and house Capulet. It would be suicide to attack without an overwhelming force.

Demographics

Most Egarian are humans, with an equal amount being split between Northerners and Keildeners.  There are a small smattering of gnomes, orcs, and dwarves, but other than humans the largest portion of the population are city elves.

Government

The Magisterium is alive and well within the city and Duke Talbot Tavari of house Tavari rule with House Aetius' blessing.  Leader of the Imperial Senate of Egara is Senior Enchanter Lucius Aquillius.

Defences

The main wall around Egara is a combination of Wardstone and Ironwood - heavily enchanted with wards and abjuration magic. Watch towers dot the wall are regular intervals and a the fairly sizable navy protects the port.  A local Garrison resides within city to protect it despite it's defenses not being as stable and powerful as Carteia.  Yet when compared to the other major cities, Egara is a vastly more formidable target.

Industry & Trade

But in spite of this mindset - or perhaps because of it - the City is the biggest importer/exporter of trade goods between House Aetius and House Hanover. This fact remains true even given the two Great Houses are technically at war. Given it's location, it has access not only to Wardstone but exotic minerals found on the floating isles of the Ululant.  Impressive corals from the sea go into making the armour of the city's defenders to a higher degree than the Ironwood found in the Keilden Forest. This alone, make the city a strategic resource and one that rivals the trade value of even House Blackharbour through it's cities of Gianniri and Duchnov.

Infrastructure

Egara is mostly a breeding town of powerful horses.  In fact, much of the Calvaries in Halruaal are enhanced with Egaran horses.  Other than that, fishing and sea cultivation take a prime spot within the city - dubbing the nickname the City of Coral.   Still, with the city along the border of the Keilden forest along, local huntsmen and rangers offer protection and guides through many of the difficult places.

Guilds and Factions

Like most of the major cities, Egara host the other guilds and factions of Halruaal. The Congregation of Merchants, the Nauts, and (although not officially) the Night Guild have a presences within the city limits.  But these factions are not as powerful as they are in cities such as Hurest or Duchnov.

Architecture

Much of the buildings in Egara are stone carved with intricate wood and ironwood reinforcements.  Though because of the location, stone is hard to find and is frequently imported from Carteia.

Geography

The city of Egara rests on a flat land, technically within the Keilden forest. the city is right on the border of the spell-plague. North of the city are the frost lands and to the south leads to the temperate region. At the same time the city is on the edge the sea leading into the Isole Ululant.
