Savo

Savo is the westernmost village that House Aetius has in the Northwest.  The village is a remote one, and although under 50 miles from the nearest town, it is surrounded by the dense Keilden Forest.  As such it is primarily a logging village with many of the population trained as woodsmen.  While the village is relatively young, it shows great promise as the recent discovery of a large field of Ironwood has prompted members of House Aetius and the Congregation of Merchants to establish a firm foothold in the area.

Demographics

Humans make up the primary of Savo, though a large contingent of halflings have established a presence to assist with the woods and local wildlife.

Government

The Village of Savo is run by a council of elders and a mayor who acts an an overseer.  Ultimately though they are accountable to the Count of Lutonium and investors from the Congregation of Merchants out of Lutonium.

Defences

Savo is relatively defenseless, but given it's remote nature it has the luxury of being overlooked by larger raiding parties or enemy soldiers.  The local militias captain has been pushing to built a sturdy wall around the settlement and train a collection of hunters to assist in the defense from predatory animals.  Despite this, the atmosphere is generally one of resource generation and mercantilism over war.

Industry & Trade

Trade relies on the wood harvested from the Keilden Forest and a few knowledgeable merchants from Lutonium.  The remote and dangerous nature of the forest has made establishing a firm road to the village difficult at best, but with help from House Aetius' sentries the trade routes are relatively secure and safe.

Infrastructure

The village was established as an outpost a little over fifty years prior and currently is one of the youngest villages endorsed by House Aetius.  Navigators and explorers from Lutonium discovered a large and viable crop of Ironwood trees and Pine trees that could be harvested for their wood.  The village quickly sprung up around that, but is still relatively small given it's youth.

Assets

A number of mills have cropped up to help process the lumbar business and the population of Savo has been working to further expand their store houses.

Guilds and Factions

A longing guild from Lutonium has a small presence in the village of Savo and assists with the local woodsmen living in the village.

History

A small party of adventures previously discovered the location of Savos while on an expedition into the Keilden Forest.  Originally they found a small migrant caravan of Free Elves, but they quickly retreated deeper into the Forest.  Two of those adventures desired to establish a settlement and bought the rights from the Count of Lutonium (with the backing of the Congregation of Merchants).  Three years after the discovery, the first couple of houses and mills sprung up, and the rest of the village followed suit.

Architecture

Seeing as the Forest provides, many of the structures in Savo is built with wood.  Houses are relatively plain but sturdy, as indicative of a more relaxed style that is Favored by House Aetius.  Because of the open space and the need to move large trees, generally structures are built with an eye for personalized space and are not clustered together.

Geography

The general geography of Savo is relatively flat land, but complicated by dense forest that is slowly receding given the growth of the village and lumbar industry.  The village is at a higher elevation than the town that controls it to the north.  The way out of the town is down a hilly path providing the advantage of the high ground to the residents of the village.

Natural Resources

Wood from the Forest is the most abundant resource that the village has to offer, but so too are the wildlife in the area.  Medium size herbivores dot the surrounding landscape offering food for skilled hunters.  Though with this comes a number of predators that are just as equally likely to target citizens as they are deer and birds.
