Ascension Plaza
The Ascension Plaza is the main government and market district in Corio and home to many prominent merchants. It is the first district that one enters into coming into the city from the harbor. At the heart of this district is the towering image of Hall of Knowledge, resting on a small island, traversed to large bridges. From here the government of Corio remains open to all those within the city.
Overall, the Plaza highlighted by two rivers that flow from the small lake that surrounds the Hall of Knowledge (the main chambers of Corio's Senate, Magisterium, and Temple building). The lifeblood of this water sustains many of the cities facets but remains a curious mystery. For reasons unknown, the lake seemingly has no bottom and remains a mild temperature year round, regardless of the seasons or precipitation.
South and east of the Hall of Knowledge is the main square. Here various storefronts lay home to expert craftsmen and merchants of the Congregation. the market hosts both open-aired and enclosed buildings in the city's famous architectural style. Bleached white walls of stone and columns with jade slated rooves rise out of the plains which denote the ethnicity of the people. Aside from the market and the Hall of knowledge, the main plaza holds the Champion's Arena, the premier source of entertainment and athleticism within the entire city.
To the northern lies the Stonewall Bank, the most secure monetary building in the city, and the Hoplites' park, an ode to the brave defenders of House Romanos. Further to the North and east is the main diplomatic district. Though to get there one will often pass by Corio's most respected inn and the plaza's (and city's) primary guard post.
