The Champion's Arena

The Champion's arena is the premier source of entertainment and athleticism within the city proper. Within these walls, many of the greatest champions of Corio and traveling adventures have fought for honor and glory. The area is roughly the size of a stadium and boast the capability to seating half the population of Corio and holds several sparring circles inside of a large track and field.

Every week the Arena is home to gladiatorial combat and sports in regularly scheduled bouts. Citizens and travelers alike are able to register to fight in single matches on in teams. In line with the culture of the Plains-Dweller and the city, the main events of the Arena are mostly non-lethal, but specialty matches can be establish for duels to the death - with the proper approval of the Magisterium. 

 
To the victor goes the spoils, whether this in solid gold coins or sheer reputation. To stand as a champion within the Champion's Arena is to be known throughout the entirety of the Dytika Isles.

Purpose / Function

The main purpose is for athletic challenges and entertainment for the City of Corio.  Though is a bit of gold was made on the side, all the better. 

Architecture

The large stadium is built in a rectangular design favored by the dwarven smiths who made it.  The outer walls rise to the size of five stores.  The main arena descends into the ground by about 20 ft. with stadium seating established on a raised theatre above.  The inside of the building is open to the elements though there are boxes with rooves and awnings set up during the colder and rainier seasons.
