Aentorl
The Aentorl are a series of ten holidays celebrated across the continent of Stildane, each commemorating a different Lunar God.
The Aentorl cross religious lines. Uvarans, Kivish, and "pagans" all honor these days, though not equally across all places. Some towns, cities, and villages celebrate some of the Aentorl, and many villages don't celebrate any of them. A paladin of a particular Lunar God is expected to celebrate their god's holy day wherever they are, and local villages hosting a paladin may celebrate it with them while they are hosted. A large city is bound to have somewhere that celebrates any given Aentorl day, even if the majority of the city doesn't join in. Even those residents who don't partake in a given celebration are taught to respect the Aentorl from a distance. Best not to anger the Lunar Pantheon by denying them their sacrifices and respect.
To see the Aentorl alongside Uvaran and Kivish major holidays, see the Stildanian Calendar.
Starting with the new year, which is celebrated by both Kivish and Uvaran religions in March (or Usteg):
Heaventouch Day (or Hobawolgenbot) is on April (Rizaiz) 21st. This is the sacred day of Lily of Red, though this is also a day for venerating all the heavens, the winds, and the celestial spirits above. This is a day of prayer; participants give sacrifice and eat humbly together. Any oaths made this day, it is said, are binding beyond death - any who break them shall be tormented by Lily herself. In the evening, there is often a celebration. Flowers and incense are burned as sacrifices. A crown of flowers is made and paraded through the feasting area, before being placed in a box under a shrine or idol. A spirit named Halcyon is praised and given sacrifice to, though no one is exactly sure who Halcyon is in the grand scheme of things. Religions interpret this differently, but they keep the name.
Dawn's Watch (or Sammerbish) is June (Forald) 21st. This is the sacred day of Haru, God of Peace. On this day, offerings are given to Haru the Wanderer and his servants of light. His cultists chant his sacred chant, and provide what healing they can to those in need. In the Northernmost lands, this day is particularly popular - there is great revelry during the Midnight Sun.
Hero's Honor (or Karaminbot) is July (Garmoy) 11th. This is the sacred day of Wimbo Aizitu, God of Heroes. Hero's Honor sacred day for honoring the heroes of the past and present, particularly paladins and monster hunters. Drinking alcohol and alcohol-based hospitality is sacred this day - the host of the feast must give free drinks to all who ask until the casks run dry. Drunken brawling is strictly forbidden. This is a holiday of mandated storytelling and one frequented by bards, minstrels, actors, and musicians. Heroes old and new are toasted and remembered.
All Moon's Day (or Ginainbot) is on September (Holnin) 10th. This is the most widely celebrated of all the Aentorl days, as it gives honor to the entire Lunar Pantheon at once and ensures that none of them will be insulted. All ten Gods are given seats of honor at a feast, with their statues present (and paladins, if possible). All are given food sacrifices and promised worship, and in response the priests demand that they work in harmony to protect the land. The Uvaran version tends to emphasize the kinship relationships and stories of the Gods. The Kivish version tends to emphasize the spiritual meaning and 'lesson' of each God. Both bake moon-cakes and tell stories of the Gods and their servants.
The Forum Festival (or Direntun) is on September (Holnin) 25th. It is also called Gossip's Day (Troktun). This is the sacred day of Orchid of Blue. A day of physical rest for her followers, devoted towards discussion and education. A day to teach one's children to write, or to talk with one's fellows. People are to gather and share knowledge on this day, resting their bodies but not their minds. Wealthier people often host their neighbors at their homes for this day, and most of Direntun is acted out in private homes rather than public places. It is also common for people to gather for Direntun at baths, hotsprings, creeks, or bathhouses. The people share food, give sacrifice to Orchid, and purify their bodies.
The Crescent Revelry (or Haloschwenk) is on October (Baeld) 21st. This is the sacred day of Hiku Matsune the Muse. On this day, her followers sing songs, produce art, and praise her name. Mostly, they revel. It is a simple and wonderful time to be a Hiku cultist, really; it is also a popular event for non-cultists, who tend to enjoy parties regardless of the patron.
The Dragon's Feast (Okenbot) is on November (Herbez) 12th. This is the sacred day of Jade Atharzen, Goddess of Order. A day of pomp, play, and costume, where people wear masks and dedicate small token coins to "pay taxes" to the Gods, typically in a stream or river. A large wooden or paper dragon is paraded around town; many make merry. This is, by all accounts, a version of the Calazan festival of 'Tishalla's Night', honoring The Chimera's mortal manifestation. It has also become the night of Knights in the Empire of Eketen and Southern Stildane; it has taken on a more dignified aspect, though it is still surprisingly light-hearted for Jade (Goddess of Law).
The Demon's Bane Festival (Tyeblessvlay) is on December (Kornkle) 18th. This is the sacred day of Ishkibal. On this day, Ishkibal gathers his warriors to prepare for a hunt against all profane monstrosities that chaos sends against the civilized realms during winter. It is a martial holiday, intended to prepare for the hunt and memorialize those that came before. A great feast follows, after the hunt is complete.
Almsgiving (or Vossdockvev) is on January (Filmoy) 29th. This is the sacred day of Theia the Liberator. On this day, those who follow the Goddess of Freedom give what they can to the poorest of their communities. It is a humble day, though it can be joyous. It is all about generosity, charity, and giving to those less fortunate. It is expected that masters should honor their servants on this day and that rich neighbors should give to poor neighbors.
The Wizard's Night (Kianahas) is on February (Shernmoy) 25th. This is the sacred day of Emesh. On this day, learned keepers of lore gather to trade and preserve knowledge. Wizards in particular celebrate in their own spaces, reserved only for masters of magic. Most people who are not paladins, scholars, or mages have little awareness of Kianahss.
Agamine the Lost once had a holiday, but it has been entirely lost to time and goes uncelebrated.
