Rathven

The Seafarer’s Legacy

Rathven is a province steeped in a rich history of seafaring and exploration. The province, located in the southeast corner of the Gaulan Plains, is bordered by a vast strait of water and was home to the legendary Rathnar Bryne and his twelve famed voyages. The capital city of Wessex, is a hub of trade, and the legend's home, Odyssey's Rest, is built from the hull of Rathnar's legendary ship. The people of Rathven are a fearless and adventurous lot, with a love for the sea that runs deep in their blood. They are open-minded and accepting of different cultures and beliefs, and their ports and trading routes connect them to the world beyond the Gaulan Plains.   This spirit of adventure runs deep—fishermen brave the waters for the elusive Levant sunfish, sailors follow the routes once charted by Rathnar, and mercenaries find work amidst the shadows of the Cobalt Crows Mafia.   Beyond the city, Rathven’s landscapes range from the windswept cliffs of the Veldan Ridge to the untamed wilds of the Broken Pass, where the invasive Rathnar’s wildcats stalk their prey. The province’s waters are home to the formidable anvilhead shark, while voyager’s gulls circle high above, following the ships that venture beyond the horizon. Even the forests hold their own mysteries, with nightshade vines twisting through the underbrush and starry-eyed owls watching from the trees.   Rathven is a land where fortune favors the bold, where explorers and traders shape their own destinies, and where the sea forever beckons those willing to chase adventure beyond the known world.
