Dhani Lines

by hughpierre

Purpose / Function

The Dhani Lines are a collection of hundreds of geoglyphs covering the desert plains by Volta Lake and the Snowy River.

Design

Glyphs

The large drawings are carved onto the surface of the earth representing either stylized biomorphs in linear elegance or abstract geometric shapes of varying complexity. They cross dry river beds and jump over hills without ever losing their direction.

    Electroluminescence

At night, when the surrounding landscape is cloaked in darkness, the lines come to life with a soft radiant blue glow without generating significant heat.   The source of this luminosity remains a mystery, but it is believed to be the result of unique geological/chemical interactions within the surface materials. As ambient conditions change, such as variations in humidity or temperature, the effect becomes more pronounced.
Interruptions to the natural circuit can potentially cause 4d10 damage within a 30ft radius.

    Special Properties

    Camay Empowerment

Practioners of camayoc and yawarmanta are thought to receive a significant boost to their respective abilities when standing inside a glowing glyph.
The same may be true for the soul sculptors too.
When within a glowing glyph, a PC gains a sum of 10 additional energy levels to use its form of magic that can be utilized a they wish. Although the DC also increases by +2 for those requiring a save.   Players can also choose to increase the range or duration by 100% or negate a target's resistance.

    Architecture

    1. Sketches were prepared on small square plots roughly 7ft for each side. A preliminary drawing was then broken down into smaller parts:
      • Longer lines were carved on the ground using rope stretch between poles
      • Circles were done by anchoring a length of rope to a rock or steak
      • Complex curves were drawn by linking appropriate arcs
    2. The shapes obtained by removing the top layer of white powdery pebbles revealing a stark blue substrate below.
    3. The gravel was then placed along the cleared path to protect them from exposure

    Tourism

    Innoit Estate

Dhani are able to enforce restrictions on visitors wanting to see to the lines; in accordance to the treaties of capitulation to the rest of Tawantinsuyu.
It is further helped by the notion at the glyphs attract lightning strikes unto themselves almost nightly.
