Dragon

Rulers of Drakmir

Basic Information

Anatomy

Drakmirran dragons are four-limbed creatures with both claws that can carry objects and creatures around. They are winged and their scales vary all sorts of colors and textures. Often you can tell what their breath is like based on their appearance.

Dragons who are from Yanping often hover above the ground. They are distinguished by two signature facial whiskers below their nostrils. Their bodies are often rope-like and can contort in positions their Draconian cousins couldn't.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Similar to Elves with their gerontocracy, dragons bow to the oldest and experienced. Age is a sign of being tried and true through countless engagements and an acquired cunning few can match.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Dragon Blood

Scholars are unsure why the most volatile substances known to alchemists are the blood of dragons. When taken from their descendant kin, like kobolds and dragonborns, their blood is stable like other humanoids. It’s blood direct from dragons that have inconsistent alchemical outcomes.

Here are some of the following reports.

Kraven’s blood had landed onto some of the sadarren soldiers coming while skirmishing amongst them. When they retreated, there were two main survivors.

The first had started growing one grotesque dragon horn on the left side of his forehead where the impact had landed. The second had swallowed some of the blood by accident as she dug into the scales with a spear. She died similar to smoke inhalation victims four days later in horrible agony.

Riding

Dragons have mixed feelings on being ridden by smaller peoples. Usually the younger ones are not fond of the idea nor is it recommended to ride atop them due to their poor flying. The adults at least see the convenience and are not opposed to charging fees to make it worth their while.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Most dragons can be found within the Continent of Drakmir, in fact, they even rule the continent through the Dominion of Argatok.

In Yanping, dragons are vastly more rare. They can be found within the mountainsides or among the skies.

Civilization and Culture

History

Dragons were never really involved with the various humanoid peoples during the Primordial Age. The winged beasts were content with conquering the natural world of their continent. The trouble, however, begins with how few dragons are so they needed more underlings to help these efforts.

What they saw with various cultures intrigued them as the eldest intertwined their bloodlines with various peoples. With time, they were successful in spawning the “Drakrev” or Dragon Bloods when translated from Draconic. These are the personal scaly kindred of theirs such as kobolds and dragonborns.

By the time the dragons had finally flourished across Drakmir, the Necromantic War had begun. The sight of their own and their littler kindred being desecrated by such foul magic disgusted them. So some dragons went and sought to topple the Arkonian Order. Though, Arkengrath’s followers were stronger than they had thought, for they were pushed all the way back to Drakmir.

By the war’s end, so many fingers were pointed on who was to blame for allowing their humiliating defeat on their homeland. The combination of bruised egos and maintaining pride stirred the dragons and the Drakrev into a lot of messy infighting during the early to mid parts of the Restoration Era. It would take Kraven, the old Necromantic War hero, to ensure that cooler heads prevailed.
