History
While the Empire traditionally does not allow smallfolk such as Kobolds or Halflings to serve as Legionnaires, certain exceptions such as KEG-1 exist. KEG-1 is regarded as the first such special legion, formed from the survivors of a Minotaur uprising in 1199 EK. The rebels attacked a Kobold village that supplies the Empire with iron ore, and the villagers sent word to the local Legion offices. By the time Imperial reinforcements arrived, the Minotaurs had taken over the village, but several had been injured in traps left behind by fleeing Kobolds. The villagers, who did not believe help would arrive, had been waging guerrilla war on the rebels to decent success. The Empire was able to drive out the rebels, and KEG-1 was formed two years later after regular petitioning by the Legion officers in charge of the operation who had seen what Kobold ingenuity could accomplish.
