The Valdarian Empire (Empire)
The greatest Empire known to mankind
Demographics
The primary population is Human and most, if not all, seats of power are controlled by humans. Nobility does have some variety at the lower levels, where some Half-Orcs, Dwarves and, though only rarely, Elves may hold titles. This division is purely due to the Empire's history, however, and there is a plentitude of various races that make up the peasantry of the Empire.
Government
While each High Lord has agency and their Provinces have unique sovereignty, they all follow the standard laws set in place by the Edelweiss Province and the King. The House of Lords within this Province call the Six High Lords and their Noble subordinates together to decide on the implementation of Laws throughout the Empire as a whole. Each Province then has it's own Diet, such as the Diet of Amaryllis, for their own political decisions, though every decision made here must be ratified by the King before it can be passed. For grand constitutional changes that will change the running of the Empire on an imperial scale, a special meeting is held, where the House of Commons and the House of Lords will bear witness to the Grand Imperial Diet of Blossoms.
Infrastructure
The most notable advancements made by the Empire have sent ripples through civilisation and place Valdaria firmly on the top of the chain. Some such examples include the Grand Eastern Wall of Saltmarsh, which is said to reach 250 feet tall and 50 feet thick in certain places; The Imperial Aviary, a gigantic mountain fortress on the border of the Edelweiss Province, home to the legendary Gryff-Knights of the Imperial Aerial Division; and the Alcatrine Island Prison, said to be an inescapable dungeon where the most terrible of criminals are locked away.
Guilds and Factions
The House of Lords and the House of Commons govern the Empire, under the direct influence of the King and his High Lords. The various Churches and religious Organisations are very closely tied to the government in certain settlements, though this is exclusively due to public opinion and trust in the Church. Many Guilds that span over the territories also exist, some of the largest include the Merchants Guild; the Artisan's Guild; and the Agricultural Guild.
Architecture
The architecture is very similar to Germanic early-renaissance buildings, while some of the more prominent landmarks across the Empire take a more Gothic approach, which has them stand out as the centrepieces of any settlement.
Geography
The Empire is sprawled across rolling hills and vast grassy plains. Many small mountain ranges also occupy parts of its territory and countless forests are scattered about. Many rivers flow nearby the settlements. One famous one runs directly through the Capital of the Edelweiss Province itself, known as the Violet Thread, coming from The Valley of the Gods. It is said that this river once flowed purple with abundant Magic and that King Zachary took this as the primary colour for the Crest of the Empire.
