The Imperial Aviary

This enormous mountain structure towers above the Edelweiss border and boasts the Empire's finest aerial military.

Purpose / Function

The structure was built on a large mountain in order to house the Gryph-Knights of the Empire. It serves as the home to their Gryphons and the riders, too. The Raven-Masters also use the structure as an outpost for sending messages. As the Aviary is so deep in Imperial territory, it doesn't have much defence capabilities. The Gryph-Knights are dispatched from the Aviary on missions, but never need to hold the fort as a defensive post.

Alterations

Originally, the structure was a simple set of supports within the vast cave network that the Gryphons used as a nesting ground. It comprised of a few small landing platforms and the like, solely for the tiny number of riders that were available. Since its construction, it has become much more. Now the entire mountain is a large fortress-like home to one of the most elite divisions of the Imperial Military. Much of the old building has been replaced by stone and there are now sections dedicated to each need of the residents.

Architecture

The building is unique in its design. Most of the surrounding architecture is much more vibrant, as the Aviary is situated in the Edelweiss Province. It is built to keep those who live inside safe from the harsh weather of the mountain. Practical in layout, its palette of materials isn't so abstract either. This is mainly due to the fact that the one who originally made it was of Lytton decent, according to a rumour. He asked the King for permission to tame the Gryphons that lived there, as they could potentially prove incredibly useful to the Empire in the future. The King agreed and let it be constructed by his design. This proved to be a worthwhile investment and countless victories have been attributed to the Aviary's assistance.
