The Enduring Ones
THE ENDURING ONES
The eight members of The Enduring Ones are considered to be immoral royalty of the Moata Solar System - they have also been occasionally referred to as The Endless or the Oōruritē Royals.
Although spoken of as if siblings, The Enduring Ones were not born, so in truth have no bloodline to have in common. They have existed long before the universe containing the Moata Solar System came into being, and will exist long after the last embers burn out.
The appearance of the eight Enduring Ones cannot be dated. These Immoral Royalty existed prior to the Elder Days - they have been there from the beginning and will be there after the end.
The Enduring Ones greeted Moatama (the Creation; the Creator) as she sorted the dust grains and the gas into the different molecules and elements. They were without a greater purpose until life was created in The Prime Material Plane.
The Enduring Ones are immortal beings, who are considered Royalty - believed to have existed before many of the Deities of Esau - formed by the coming together of two of the oldest beings in all the Galaxies:-
Mother Night: Lunais = a cosmic royal being, embodiment of the absolute emptiness of Outlying Space that predates creation of the Moata Solar System - who is also somehow related to Moatama.
Father Day: Solax = a Oōruritē royal counterpart - younger than Mother Night - spoken as the embodiment of the first existence of starlight of a sun.

The Enduring Ones spend most of their time fulfilling their functions as embodiments of natural forces. For example, Scythe - prefers to be called The Raven Queen - leads the souls of the dead away from the realm of the living to the Shadowfell, and protects the living from the Undead. While Azhrarn, oversees The Dream Realm - caring for people's sleep within The Dreaming - while regulating dreams and inspiration, along with Onrisos (The Nightmare King) and Phantasos (Surreal Dreamer).
Destine and Scythe are also protectors of The Fates, who weave the threads of each one's destiny into people's lives. The three Fates, control the mother thread of life, from birth to death.
The Fates are Nona: the spinner, Lachesis: the weaver, and Morta: the collector. These three appear to be elderly women sitting at weaving looms threaded with Oōruritē, in a building within the garden maze Garden of Forking Ways - however truly reside inside Moirai within the Shadowfell.

Destine
NAMES = Destine; Fateful; Gardner; Fortune's Majesty; Fortune's Master; Guardian of the Fates; Destiny;
SYMBOLS = glass book; gold chains; REALM = Garden of Forking Ways
Pronouns = him/he
Sin = greed
Virtue = temperance
Noted as the oldest of The Enduring Ones, Destine always appears as a hooded figure dressed in grey or brown robes, carrying an enormous open tome, The Woven Nebula of Fates.
The massive tome that Destine holds is linked to his wrist by chain made of gold ... The question of if the book chained to Destine or he is chained to the book, remains unanswered.
Within the book is glass pages full of writing of the entire sum of existence, past, present and future - the clasp made of Oōruritē.
Destine holds the tome with no wish to share the knowledge inside - nor to share those interactions he has with the Fates, with any mortal beings. However, he does show moderation and self-restraint when speaking with the three Fates and other immortals.
Although often depicted as blind, Destine actually can see, and wears a blindfold to only focus on the sights of all creatures' fates running in his vision at once.
Destine rarely demonstrates much personality. He never changes his appearance or travels beyond his own realm. Although he wears a blindfold, he can see - but does not uses his eyes to see the currently visible things in his sightline.
Destine moves within a maze in his garden - Destine’s realm is home also to the three Fates - it is a labyrinth that symbolizes one’s life journey and is called the Garden of Forking Ways. His whispering speech is a combination of Numerosity along with numerous slang words of multiple languages - some so old they are forgotten and others are yet to be created.
+ Destine seems the most encased in their role, a singular form, and responsibilities of any of the Enduring Ones.

Scythe
(worshipped on Esau as The Raven Queen),NAMES = Scythe; Lady Scythe; Valentina; Uhlume; The Raven Queen; The Queen of Ravens; The Matron of the Raven; Death Bird; Winter Witch; Grand Doula; Valkyrie: Chooser of the Slain; Death
SYMBOLS = silver ankh; black raven; REALM = the Shadowfell
Gender = Seen mostly as female, and majorly referred to as She and Her - although they are Gender Fluid.
Sin = pride
Virtue = diligence
Scythe is honourable in their duties, and on becoming a deity, that role too. Taking part in both the beginning and end of a person's life, without fail. Always appearing looking clean and well groomed.
The Raven Queen was once not a deity - only a royal immortal of the enduring ones. Scythe's rise to deity instantly obliterated the previous, since long-forgotten god of death, and the other gods quickly and fearfully destroyed the secrets to the rites of ascension.
Scythe's appearance at the beginning of a life is as Uhlume - looks to be a beautiful Aasimar with polished jet-black skin, milk-white hair and eyes, and white clothes - with an ankh impression on the silver case of a pocket watch, and a small black raven on one shoulder.
During a person's life, Scythe usually appears as The Raven Queen - appearing in a white Oōruritē face mask, her onyx-black straight hair, and black robes in the company of black ravens. The silver Ankh unseen beneath the ropes. The figure has been know to scare people into better behaviours, warn of danger, or aid in stopping an Undead creature.
Also, as The Raven Queen, they does sometimes appear as a large, black raven - a watchful bird that seems to be a warning.
On occasion, Scythe will appear as a black cat, with an ankh hanging on visibly on a collar. Mainly to watch, unnoticed, events unfolding.
As The Winter Witch, crown of winter flowers, bone white skin As Valentina - appears as a female Tiefling one day out of every lunar year, amongst living as a mortal, on both Esau, and then another day on the planet Lyre - has cinnamon coloured skin, with long straight black hair, a cat-like face, short black horns, black forked tail, and smells of cinnamon. Wears a shoulder cape made of black raven feathers, over a black gown, that laces at back, a silver ankh attached to her coin pouch, and tall lace-up boots.
At the timing of a person death, Scythe will appear in one form or another, depending on the person's beliefs and expectations - always with her horse Haden :-
* The Raven Queen to carry the creature away the chariot drawn by a black horse;
* A deep speaking skeleton in a black robe with a scythe (the anthropomorphic personification of Death in some people's minds), often riding one a skeletal horse.
* Valkyrie: "Chooser of the Slain" - a winged Aasimar on a white horse;
* Lady Scythe - when attending the end of a child's life, they look to be a petite (non-threatening) young adult Half-Elf female, with pale white skin, night-black hair and eyes, and black sleeveless shirt and trousers. She wears a silver ankh around her neck and has a tattoo of a black raven in flight on one shoulder. Preferring to dress and act casually - she comes across as level-headed, and considerate.

SYMBOLS = grey dream-helm; cloak of stars;REALM = The Dream Realm - shared ruling with Onrisos and Phantasos
Sin = gluttonyVirtue = charity
Portrayed as the lord, a prince and a personification of all dreams and the beginning of fictional stories.
A pale, royal, otherworldly character — the Prince of Night and Dreams. As Morpheus and Dream appears as a very handsome, tall, slender pale man with wild dark blue-black hair, bone-white skin, and two distant stars looking out from the shadows where his eyes should be. Most often they are silver, blue, or white - but when he becomes angered, they have been known to turn red. Azhran frequently carries a gas mask - said to protect himself from his magical sleep dust - made from a mixture of Oōruritē and sand from his realm.
Morpheus appears particularly to kings and heroes within their dreams.
He dresses in a shapeless cloak of "night" with "flames dancing in its folds". He often takes on disguises in other humanoid forms, or the form of a giant black eagle - his black robes often unfurl in a manner suggestive of eagle's wings.
He feasts frequently yet never gains any fat to his body, as it is all food from dreams. His need to punish himself, yet be charitable to others, leaves him often lonely, and it is often assumed that Azhrarn will always save a person from danger within a dream. Yet Azhrarn cannot protect any dreamer from The Nightmare King, or from the bizarre dreams given by
His eyes are pools of shadows with glimmers of light within. He has a long history of insensitivity towards others, and must come to deal with his past cruelties. He is very concerned with fulfilling his responsibilities.

Troilus
CURRENT NAMES = Troilus; the Prodigal; Brother
PAST NAMES Names = Troilus; Olethros; Gunnar; Sultan of War, Eradicator, Obliterator, Destruction
SYMBOLS = bronze sword; paintbrushPAST NAMES Names = Troilus; Olethros; Gunnar; Sultan of War, Eradicator, Obliterator, Destruction
REALM = none (by choice)
Sin = wrath
Virtue = humility
Troilus is a very tall, muscular, broad red-haired, bearded man. Beard has beads threaded throughout it. He has a harsh temper, and was for a long time controlled by his anger. His voice can project to boom across a noisy 'battlefield'. Troilus has always been humble and willingly to help others seek glory.
In appearances set in earlier centuries, he is depicted as Gunnar wearing military gear (such as a musketeer's uniform, or armour made from Oōruritē) - clean shaven and very short hair.
In more recent times, Troilus is shown in colourful casual clothes, with an Oōruritē pendant on a cord around his neck - also has taken to wearing his long red hair in a ponytail and growing a thick red beard.
Once he enjoyed the torments and horrors of long wars - proving his skill at combats, wars and battles. He has become more relaxed and creative. He is still loud, yet shows more of his caring nature.
Troilus abandoned his responsibilities as one of the Enduring Ones hundreds of years ago, causing much conflict between him and some of the other Immoral Royals. (At the same time as Solandra became Mania.)
Since abandoning his realm and post, Troilus is often referred simply as "the Prodigal" or "Brother", rather than "Gunnar" or "Destruction". He wanders finding new creative outlets - often seen with paint in his hair, and pottery clay on his hands. He has a passion for creative and constructive endeavours, but only a slight talent in any.
When first on his travels, after departing his post, Troilus use to be accompanied by a talking dog, named Barnabas - whom he later gifted to Mania, when Troilus recognised her greater need for the companion.
Troilus prefers to think of himself as the personification of change; a warrior poet - he likes to try his hand at creating various forms of art, none of which are very good, and things that he is involved with creating, never seem to work out properly.
Usually if one of the Enduring Ones are destroyed then they will be replaced by another aspect of their role - however this do not occur if one is simply absent or inactive. Therefore, Acosador has simply taken on part of Troilus' past role - with a twist of spite and bullying Acosador is known for.
Troilus left his realm to continue in a chaotic and unregulated way, until it became known as Limbo - Warrior's Ridge is a section in Limbo, where Gunnar's empty throne still resides - as Acosador is unwilling to across the ever-changing terrain.

Acosador
NAMES = Acosador; Cruel; Ruffian; The Regent ;Thug, Scourge, Tyrant, the Dualist
SYMBOLS = Green Fist; Oōruritē daggerREALM = wanders from Planes and Realm at will - except cannot enter Extraneous.
Pronouns = him/he
Without a particular sin or virtue - although shows each sin and virtue as appeals to him. For example, he can be boastful, or not speak for days while he watches events unfurl. Also, he can be one to never let up on a certain person, or he will offer aid to a large group.
Acosador took over when Troilus resigned from being Destruction and departed his post. Acosador is petty and cruel. He enjoys the smaller battles and causing inner torment.
Acosador is the most likely of the Enduring Ones to change his appearance - although always Human (as that race embraced his nature first), he can look to be a noble, merchant, bandit, cult member, or whatever he chooses. His "true" form is that of a red-head Human male, who is handsome and youthful on most of his right side, and yet mostly withered, ugly, and demonic on his left side. His right hand is entirely demonic - the fingers are brass snakes, and the thumb is a black beetle. His left hand is Human. He typically wears padded blue gloves and a satin robe embroidered with sharpened Oōruritē fragments.
As Thug, he wears a blue suit of armour, an Oōruritē dagger rests in his belt (ready to 'stab someone in the back') and carries the jawbones of a jackal - which he uses to whisper rumours and bitter remarks. As the Dualist, he carries a pair of knuckledusters.
Acosador was barely recorded and basically forgotten in one important Sunrayin Tribe text, named "Immortal Royals: The Enduring Ones", written over a century previous - he destroyed the Great Library of Pelago Islands, because of it. It only mentioned him in one paragraph, as Troilus' substitute - not naming him, instead calling him the immoral junior of Destruction.
* Acosador does not have a realm; he wanders the world at will, both spreading cruelty and attracting those who hold grudges.

Perdita
Twin sister to Crave.NAMES = Perdita; Gloom; Nort; Princess of Anguish; Despair
SYMBOLS = iron hooked ring; cracked mirror REALM = nomadic - although as a realm within her twin's realm of The Threshold (known as The Grey Realm), plus frequently visits the Shadowfell, and The Plane of Void)
Prouns = She / HerSin = envy
Virtue = chastity
Perdita is an obese woman with grayish skin, white bone of the top of her left foot showing, lines of worry on her face, and matted black hair. She is tattooed with intricate red lines, has scars and fresh blood-beading cuts all over body, and irregularly-shaped teeth. She smells of sweat, decay, slightly of blood and tears.
She is always naked in front of a set of cracked mirrors - she is usually squatting with large moon rats around her. She studies her features for hours, and barely facing those she envies. Perdita has a habit of carving her flesh with a hooked Oōruritē ring that she wears.
Perdita’s sigil is an Oōruritē ring with a hook that she is always wearing. On the occasions she visits her realm, The Gray Realm, she stays with the moon rats Perdita rarely speaks, is very cynical, and always looks gloomy. When Gloom does speak, she sounds intelligent, factual and bluntly honest.
Perdita as a name means "lost," "ruin," or "decay". Generally, Perdita's nature gives and receives a feeling of distrust. Her cold, distant manner keeps the other Enduring Ones at a distance, including her twin Crave - except for Mania, who endeavours to share previous moments with Perdita. Often, Despair took the brunt of Acosador's cruel words and nasty teasing.
The Grey Realm looks to be a small square room, full of cracked mirrors and is without colour, yet cannot be crossed in an hour. If a creature enters and succumbs to the despair and anguish, they will find the crossing of the room endless. It is a gray, foggy space filled with moon rats and cracked mirrors, which Perdita uses to look upon people in their despair and anguish. The sounds are of nibbling rats, the quarrelling of decades of long relationships, and deep sighing of Perdita.
* Staring into a cracked mirror releases Perdita into the dwelling where you stand - followed by her twin Crave.

PAST NAMES = Solandra; Shehzadi; Atmeh; Delight
SYMBOL = an abstract, shapeless blob of colours.REALM = Extraneous
Pronouns = she/her

Virtue = patience
SOLANDRA
Solandra was a delightful creature who looked to be a Solar Being that shined sunlight and Oōruritē. Sometimes appearing as one of the Living Stars. An Immortal Royal of innocence, niceness and naivety. Solandra lived in an ignorant bliss - she spoke only of the joyful and beautiful things.
She was an affectionate creature, with a heart open to great love - which she found with the deity Moonweaver.
She was an affectionate creature, with a heart open to great love - which she found with the deity Moonweaver.
Delight turned to Delirium, because ignorance is bliss.
As time went on, and during the Corruption, the more knowledge she gained, changing her to Delirium.
MANIA
Considered the youngest of the Enduring Ones, Mania appears as a colourful young girl whose form changes occasionally - often based on the random fluctuations of her temperament. She will lazy for hours in a plane of realm of her choosing, taking the time to wait for something that will entertain her to happen.
A large part of their personality is exquisite and imaginative. She has wild hair and eccentric, mismatched, wavy and unpredictable clothes. Fishes float in air around her head. Her shadow never reflects her shape, and is tangible, like velvet.
She has wild hair and eccentric, mismatched, wavy and unpredictable clothes - that match her personality.
Delirium's appearance is impacted not only by mortals, but also by the other members of the enduring ones. Her skin colour will be chalky white in the presence of her family, yet Caucasian in the presence of those with similar colouring. This seems to be an attribute unique to her.
Mania has an aversion to being touched. She is said to smell of sweet sweat, late nights, sour wine, and old leather. She is often in the company of her dog Barnabas - a gift from her brother Troilus.
Her transformation occurred because she lost her innocence - the only way that an innocent could cope with the world after this was to embrace madness and chaos. For the longest time Mania retreated in Extraneous, appearing as a red Tiefling with Oōruritē spiral horns and a long spiked tail.
When Mania did reappear she came with the intention of sowing mischief and sorrow upon the worlds of Esau and Lyre, specifically to teach creatures the folly of worshiping the deities. Her ravings causes a rift between the deities, as they disagreed how to deal with what other considered Mania's Tantrum. Eventually she abandons those actions, deciding that chaos and some lunacy.
Her only permanent physical characteristic is that one of her eyes is green with Oōruritē flecks and the other blue, but even those sometimes switch between left and right. She often seems very childlike and still quite innocent - yet Mania is more scatterbrained and easily distracted - she often forgets the thread of her conversations and comes out with offbeat and seemingly inconsequential observations.
Mania is also quick to respond angrily to rudeness, leading her to occasionally punish people without mercy - usually with a form of madness. Mania is usually in a confused mental state that causes disorientation and confusion. It starts suddenly and can come and go. Symptoms include quickly changing mental states - problems with attention, awareness, thinking, memory, feelings or sleep.
Mania often has a playful attitude, regarding some events with ecstatic joy - such as being held above the ground by a Wyvern, or to Crave splitting into multiple incarnations before her. Mania is also quick to respond angrily to rudeness, leading her to occasionally punish people without mercy; usually with a form of madness.
The other Enduring Ones tend to be overly-protective of her - even Acosador. Yet, Mania seems to know many things none of the other Enduring Ones know, and can travel to any Realm or Plane she chooses.
It may be noted that Mania, as Solandra, once exhibited a very deep form of order. Her long and rambling recollection seemed non-sensical, It has been suggested that Mania may be less mad than she appears and merely has trouble expressing herself.
She once was a very symmetrical creature - when she appears as such it seems to reflect perhaps that in Mania, there is some delight still existing, no matter how painful.
Mania, like all the enduring ones, exhibits a form of prophetic knowledge; however, her prophecies rarely make sense until it is too late to do anything about them, and no other character recognizes them. Mania also seems to know many things none of the other Enduring Ones appear to know.
* Troilus describes a situation in which Scythe (The Raven Queen) told Troilu that everybody knows everything and they just pretend they do not - yet neither Troilus nor Azhrarn (ruler of The Dream Realm) really understand, accept or have faith in that fact.
Mania, however, says, "She is. um. Right. Kind of. Not knowing everything is all that makes it okay, sometimes."
Her realm of Extraneous is as weird as her. Her symbol is an abstract, shapeless blob of colours. Delirium likes to walk on clouds, blowing bubbles, following an Oōruritē thread, and being in-between places. Favourite colour is fluorescent plants and creatures especially at 4am. Her age makes her unique among the Enduring Ones, as she appears so young (between 14 and 19 years old). Despite her appearance, she is actually quite wise - however, in her case, the wisdom came at a price - staying in the "serious" state causes her pain, so most of the time, it's easier for her to be a bit crazy, and sometimes prefers to be a fish.
When Mania turns into a perfect colourful fish, she will take a long time to proceed to recompose herself - sometimes she chooses butterflies instead.

The Corruption
What caused Solandra to become Mania is entwined with the corruption of her lover Moonweaver to become Hecate Darkmoon.* Solandra saw what The Enchantress Ezmia and other Hags were planning - she tried to stop the corruption.
* Solandra was tortured to bring Moonweaver to the location.
* Moonweaver was trapped and through casting of Eldritch magic by a large group of Hags, became Hecate Darkmoon.
* Solandra became Mania, with sorrow of loosing Moonweaver - and changed her plane to Extraneous.
* Troilus left his realm - deciding to destroy people's old-fashioned mind sets instead of fighting - changed art and tried to remove prejudices.
* Acosador stepped into the role of "Destruction", however does on a smaller yet more harmful way.
* Perdita took to hiding within The Plane of Void, for a long period - and frequently returns there for 'peace'
{I have taken and adapted most of these characters from the original characters created by the talented Tanith Lee, in The Flat Earth series - which was then adapted by one Neil Gaiman, for The Sandman series}
