The Federation of Terran States

After the Great Terran War that sparked as a result of an incompetent interplanetary government, feuding states, and lacking central military: it was clear a new government had to be made for the Terran people. The greatest leaders from the inner planets put their heads together and organized a government that would, in theory, last throughout the ages. Thus, the Federation of Terran States was born.

This government is a highly militarized socialist republic, with laws and protocols in place to grant absolute leadership to a group of three in times of crisis, such as War or celestial catastrophes.

The Federation has carried the Terran People for centuries, bringing with it great prosperity and scientific advancements... and perhaps a lesser fear of the unknowns for our galaxy and the universe at large.

Structure

High Triumvirate

The High Triumvirate of the FTS is called into action once all elected heads of power from each branch of the government have been selected. The High Triumvirate consists of 1 lesser triumvirate from each branch. Each lesser triumvirate consists of the Elected Head and 2 advisors the Head picks for council and replacement in the even the head is put into a position in which they cannot continue their duties.

Legislative Branch

Head of State

The Head of State, when elected, is the Head of Legislation of the FTS's government. Any new laws that are voted upon may be veto'd or passed by the head of state. Typically, the Head of State is elected from one member of the grand council by the council itself. The head of state serves 6 short years in their position. After their term has ended, they may not run again until the next term has passed.

Grand Council

Any major law or amendment that affects the FTS as a whole is passed through this council as a Bill that may come from anyone in the FTS; but most commonly comes from political officials from major ecoblocks. This council features one "major" elected representatives from each major ecoblock in FTS controlled land. These representatives then pick an amount of "minor" representatives based on the amount of sub-blocks their ecoblock has. The responsibility of Major representatives is to vote on their

Judicial Branch

Arch Judicator

The Arch Judicator is the Head of the Judicial Branch in the FTS, and their responsibilities include coordinating Judicatory Enforcers to keep the peace amongst FTS regulated territory and investigate internal problems/corruption. The Arch Judicator is elected from one of the many Grand Judicators in the Council of Judges. The Arch Judicator serves 6 short years in their position. After their term has ended, they may not run again until the next term has passed.

Council of Judges

There are two tiers of courts in the FTS: Grand Courts and Lesser Courts. Each of these courts has one elected judge presiding over them, being called the Grand Judicator and Local Judicator respectively. These judges have the final say on the guilt or innocence of individuals going through trial in the court system, in concordance with the Jury of the court. These judge's decisions must be rooted in the laws of the land (usually the state), and must explain his reasoning to the public for every individual that is either declared guilty or innocent. Other judicators from anywhere in the FTS may commence investigations against judicators that have been considered unjust in their actions by the public, and if the judicator is found guilty of unjust sentencing, they will be removed from their position and possibly arrested. This, however, is rare.

Judicial Enforcers

The Enforcers of the Judicial Branch, in modern terms, act as the secret police of the FTS. Their jurisdiction spans all FTS regulated territory, they may investigate Federal, State, and Private interests, and are much more well-equipped compared to standard state-police. It is rare, however, for Enforcers to be called anywhere, as State Governments disdain the idea of the federal government having a private police army in place of local law enforcement. Enforcers are usually called to settle crime as a last resort, due to limited manpower and to maintain trust between Federal and State government... however if allegations of crimes that require Judicatory interference arise, then the Judicial branch will not hesitate to send its enforcement units to investigate.

Public Agenda

The goal of the FTS is to unite the many states of the Terran System under one flag, with one goal, and act as one group of people. Unlike the now defunct and largely ineffective United Commonwealth of Terran Peoples (UCTP), the FTS aims to better ensure that a more efficient and unified government leads the Terran people.

The FTS does this through imposing few, yet strict, laws upon her people; and imposing extremely strict regulations upon corporate entities. These regulations and laws offer stability and safety at the cost of personal liberty and corporate growth.

Assets

The FTS funds itself through taxation; and possesses trillions of credits worth of assets (territories, infrastructure, fleets, etc.) that it claims as its own. However, through numerous  legislative tools such as emergency declarations: the FTS can also requisition assets directly from her states.

History

The Federation started out relatively small, only a few allied countries, that grew to be the most powerful after the end of the Terran War. These states quickly consolidated their militaries, and proceeded to absorb skirmishing groups of countries into their alliance. Meanwhile, the alliance's leaders began laying the groundwork for what the FTS would become; slowly but surely bringing their plans to fruition through a combination of silver-tongued diplomacy and strong-arm military tactics.

Demography and Population

Participant Races

Collectively, all participant races in the FTS are called Terrans.

Humans

A human in this day in age is not like you or me. Often times, they possess great intellect, have perfect skin, possess unnaturally perfect bodily proportions, resistance to diseases and cancer; and most of the time possess artificial implants that enhance their already potent physical and mental abilities. The skin coloration and overall ethnicity of the average human has been lost amongst thousands of years of interracial marriage and frequent genetic tampering. On average, humans living on colonies or planets closer to the sun or exposed to great amounts of UV radiation will adapt to have darker skin, while those away from high amounts of UV radiation will adapt to have lighter skin (sometimes manifesting extreme changes, like jet black skin or snow-white skin).

Gesir

Gesir come in many makes and models. Some resemble humans to an uncanny degree, while others have more animalistic characteristics. Gesir are seen by many in the FTS as a servant race, both due to Uvronix propaganda to dehumanize their creations, and due to their political status within FTS regulated areas. They are granted "Lesser Citizenship," making their votes be considered an afterthought in any election, preventing them from running for any office within FTS government, and making interspecies marriage very difficult, if not impossible, to ascertain.

Approximate Population

The population of the Terran system has never been a 100% accurate figure. Accounting for every child, every criminal in hiding, every person on every space station across every square UCD of the solar system is a nigh impossible task that would require unreasonable amounts of resources and liquid assets in order to properly carry out. It's estimated that over 100 Trillion Terrans call the Terran System their home. The overwhelming majority of these humans live in Planetary Megacities and Asteroid Bases scattered about the system. The birthrates of the Terran people are relatively low, however their death rates are considerably lower. This leads to a net increase of Terrans born vs. Terrans dying, leading to a steady growth of the Terran population, however over a slightly longer period of time.

Territories

Any celestial body, natural or artificial, permanently inhabited by Terrans is considered to be FTS controlled territory.

Military

The primary military of the FTS is the Terran Armed Forces, or the TAF for short. This force is composed of trillions of individuals from all places across the Terran system. In addition to this, all civilians of the FTS undergo basic, 2 year military training, and can be conscripted at any time. TAF forces are rarely used for direct combat, and instead focus on peacekeeping, disaster relief, and colonial projects. For private or specialized warfare or jobs requiring trained and well-equipped personel, private Mercenary companies are often hired, causing the creation of interplanetary paramilitary organizations to become very popular.

Foreign Relations

There are no other Terran governments that are considered to be foreign to the FTS. All state governments within FTS territory are considered to be under their authority. All borderworlds are either run as proxy governments or are simply provinces of the FTS. Interplanetary and interstate relations are ever-changing but remain mostly peaceful towards one another.

Agriculture & Industry

Agriculture

Agricultural and food production varies from place to place. On earth, the atmosphere is too poluted to grow plants and raise livestock meaning all food has to be grown in massive greenhouse complexes, typically located on the outskirts of, or on top of, the various megacities of the planet. Whereas on places like mars, massive, towering greenhouse buildings can be made to support the bustling population. On planets, moons, and asteroid colonies with no atmosphere, all plants must be grown indoors, typically inside of dome-styled greenhouse aparatuses. For spaces stations, typically external cylyndrical modules will be installed onto the main station, and will recieve light and energy either through reflective mirrors, open windows, and solar panels or through on-board fusion generators.

Industry

The FTS holds many powerful corporations that specialize in various industrial practices.

Raw Resource Production

The accuisition, logsistical operations, and refinement procedures of raw resources all fall under the category of "Raw Resource Production." With the vast amounts of mineral wealth in the Kupier belt, Mercury, and other rocky planets/moons, the sheer volume of resources that are available to the FTS are staggering. Typically, resources are processed and shipped via advanced Warp Gates and Material Digitization technology; allowing for ultra-fast, and ultra-clean resource production and distribution across the entire system.

Medicine Production & Technology

The advancement of medicine has come a long way. No longer do archaic drugs that react differently to every human need to be injected inside of you. Instead, fast-acting nanomachines seek and destroy foreign pathogens, such as genetically engineered diseases, poisons, or irregularities within the user's blood such as clots or hemmoraging. In addition to this, tissue synthisisers allow for great amounts of lost tissue, blood, or even entire limbs and organs to be grown, stored, and used on a case-by-case basis for anyone in need of them.

Military Technology

On the battlefield, it'd be rare to find a normal human as a soldier amongst cyborgs, drones & servitors, and Gesir warbreed. Smart ammunition, weapons systems, satelite tracking, and AI have all come a long way, practically automating portions of entire battlefields. While it would be very effective: the use of orbital warfare against planetshas been all but banned by the FTS for being to potent at causing unmitigated destruction to the system's population centers in general. The use of kinetic load, nuclear, macro lancer, EMP, and biological warfare have all been restricted for planetary defense or offense; and only may be used to guard against extrasolar threats (even if those threats are terran in nature).

Trade & Transport

Interplanetary Trade

All products that one buys within FTS controlled territory is, no doubt, produced by FTS-regulated corporations and businesses. On a macro scale, all shipments made from planet to plant are transported by immense cargo barges, each of which travel through networks of orbital Warp Gates. These warp gates are some of the most militarilly secure places within the FTS, for obvious reasons. The collapse of one or the potential hacking of one by rogue states could pose large threats to the planet the gate is orbiting, or the entire system.

International & Local Trade

International and local trade can either be carried out the old fasioned way, such as through trains, air planes, cargo ships, or trucks. Alternatively, sub-orbital supercarriers may be used to transport great quantities of goods, personell, or military equipment from place to place within a planet. Additionally, the use of sub-orbital warp gates allow for extremely fast transportation for those who can afford the steep cost of their use. Due to the higher gravity found around the surface of a planet compared to the "orbital" area in which warp gates are usually stationed, warp gates on the surface require much more energy to sustain, resulting in their overall size being drastically reduced.

Information Transportation

Even across the span of many planets, the need for near-instant radio communications is still a borderline necessity. For this reason, the Great Relays were constructed at each major planet or colonial outpost within the Terran System. Each of these relays is simply a massive warp gate with an array of radio communications satelites positioned in the middle. There are 2 of these gateways set up at every planet or colony, and are designed to act as a bus for radio communication. Every one of these openings connects to the planet behind it, with some branch-warp gates being erected for outlying colonies, with several redundant, dormant backups in place should one of them fall. With this system in place, everywhere throughout the FTS has ultra fast radio communication (at least, in terms of astronomical distances).

Education

By default, all citizens of the FTS are educated in the basic and advanced forms of Language, Mathematics (including algebra and geometry), History, Geography, Astronomy, Sciences, and Art /Literature, as well as any state-specific applications. After getting a generalized idea as to what the student wants with their life, based off of what they know of all mandatory subjects, the student is then free to specialize in a major field of study. This field of study will increase their knowledge of all basic concepts they have learned in school, teach them how to learn and be a productive citizen, as well as give them information in the specific field they have specialized in.   Traditional forms of teaching have long been outgrown. Typically, students only need to spend 1 hour per day learning their mandatory subjects, and only have to "attend" basic education until the age of 13. During this time, all learned information would have been "downloaded" onto the user's brain via advanced simulation software designed to efficiently give the user real-life experiences of the subjects they are learning in a digital space where time is seemingly sped up. Due to this device's nature and the effects of the human brain due to prolonged exposure, all sessions of using this device must be limited to 1-hour long.
