The War of Eserae

The War of Eserae was a war that swept most of Elemaran, with almost all of the nations in it taking part. It was caused by the Kingdom of Erdantia's annexation of the Gaen-controlled Eserae, the town after which the war was named. Many consider it to be something of a continuation of the civil war in which Gaen was created, and the multiple wars fought between the two since.

The Peninsula of Erdantia

A long series of conflicts ensued between the various nations on the Peninsula of Erdantia, almost all of them involving the Kingdom of Erdantia and Gaen. The nation of Shadra, which had formed a close alliance to Gaen since the Syndalan-Orlendian War, came to its aid. With it's heavy reliance on portal technology, is was more than capable of deploying large numbers of Shadraki troops to the Peninsula, something not remotely possible with conventional troop deployment tactics.

The Battle of Eserae (1588)

The first battle within the War of Eserae, the Battle of Eserae was Gaen's attempt at reclaiming Eserae. Five-hundred Gaenic troops and 120 Shadraki troops were stationed around Eserae, along with five siege engines. Gaen took control of the town for no more than six weeks before Erdantia reclaimed it using superior numbers, the force used to capture the town standing at a total of 1000 soldiers.

The battles at Effeniea

Two months after the Battle of Eserae, five-thousand Erdantian troops marched into the plains of Effeniea, an area of grassland at the south of Gaen, capturing many settlements there, including Allersa, Perma, and Sipal.

The Gaen-Aven conflicts

Gaen pushed eastwards, leading to a series of brutal conflicts in the section of the Long Mountains in Aven. It culminated in the siege of Erenda, Aven's capital, which proved to be one of the most bloody battles in the entire war.

Eliron, Emmerion and Yannurrin

These three nations joined at around the same time, two months after the beginning of the war. The three were completely pinned in, and conflict was always inevitable. Within Eliron, two of the most powerful states, the Duchy of Atlin and the Duchy of Ober mobilised troops, supporting Gaen and Erdantia respectively. Yannurrin was a supporter of Gaen.

The Emmerion-Kirine conflicts

In the month of Loara, 1589, the god Kineva, wanting to see what would happen, created a group of soldiers resembling those from Kirine, ordering them to march on Emmerion, a major ally of Erdantia.

The Northern Senestria conflicts

There were three main conflicts in Northern Senestria. First were the conflicts between the nations there and the Native Senestrians oppressed there. They ended fairly quickly, as the insurgents were few in number. Second were the conflicts among the two nations, as they took opposing sides to the war. Third were the conflicts between Eseris and nations further north. This final set of conflicts was considered the climax of the war, ending in the Battle of Sesilen.
