"There are whispers. Echoes in the shadows. They say that there are a group of spies. A brotherhood of assassins. A network of informants. A group that Erdantia uses to do all their dirty work while they look fine on top. Don't tell anyone. If they find out, I'll be dead by the morrow.
The Order of Erdantia are
the Kingdom of Erdantia's secret services. They protect Erdantia from threats inside and out, all while concealing their own existence. The organisation was discovered by the
Goldenheart rebellion of 1587 and was supposedly disbanded. It wasn’t. This allowed the organisation to continue to work anonymously. The organisation specialises in espionage, black ops, psychological warfare, and assassination.
While their role is unconventional for one, operatives of the Order of Erdantia are technically Knights, with the Order being a Knights Order, one of 12 in Erdantia.
The King of Erdantia has complete control and can make any decision within the group. The group is led by the
Overseer, with the Deputy and Assistant Overseers serving them. An operative begins as a cadet, being trained in secure locations around Erdantia, then as a rookie, serving under a master, then as an operative, then a master. From this point, there are four real career paths. Become a member of the council, who make core decisions about the Order's operations, join the
the Swans Division, the branch that specialises in members with political and economic influence, join
the Eagles Division, whose members specialise in counterinsurgency, organised crime, and home operations, or become a Hawk, whose members specialise in foreign operations.
The current Overseer is
Jacqueline Porter, who was in turn preceeded by
Ezekial Evans, the first Overseer of the Order.
The Order has 187 Operatives, each with weapons and clothing. The Order also operates several fortifications around the world, and owns two frigates.
The Order was formed by
King Ulric Tyler in 1569, as a direct result of the increasing threat of the Syndalan Coalition in
the Syndalan-Orlendian war.
Ezekial Evans then a prisoner of war kept by Erdantia, was granted a pardon in exchange for becoming leader of the Order.
While the religion of Libran is encoded in many practises in the Order, the attitudes found within it are largely secular. There may be a pretence of religious attitudes, but their real loyalties are to one another.
