GHG Session 56: A Literal Lore Dump

General Summary

Month 4, Week 1, Year 919
With less than 24 hours before the detonation of Naum Kulikov's lab, the Fortunate Five started exploring its ruins and all the mysteries it held. A console in the center of the room appeared to be in the shape of an old television set, and changes to the position of the console's dials granted access to various demiplanes corresponding to the different hands on Naum's mural. The first dial combination conjured a portal to the front doorway of a cozy cottage full of odd ingredients and a giant levitating stone cube. Members of the FF stepped into the cottage without issue, but it seemed that every time they came and went through the portal it became harder and harder to pierce.   The giant floating cube projected a hologram of the archmage Naum, acting as a tour guide through the lab's various demiplanes. This wasn't Naum speaking through the cube, rather a very powerful hologram with high-level sensors and possessing the ability to process and react to inquiries in real time. But the hologram provided plenty of useful information about Ekal's relationship to the feywild, explaining how a coven of nine hags were some of the first non-primordial entities to settle on the world. Six of them still lived on Pescaliat while another three could be found on the other side of the world, and if their coven was ever reunited they would be one of the most powerful forces on Ekal.   It took the FF a puzzle or two make it to the end of the Feywild demiplane: a tunnel beneath the cozy cottage with murals of the nine hags etched into the stone walls. At the end of the hallway loomed an image of Baba Yaga, offering three cards for those willing to pluck them from the stone. Windred, Reetma, and Zan'kiri proved to be the willing volunteers for some cards from the Deck of Many Things, the first of them suffering severe damage to their saving throws by the Euryale card. Reetma nearly got his soul sucked out of his body the Void card, but to the cost of numerous ability scores he turned the card into the Moon and obtained three castings of the 'Wish' spell. Zan'kiri did pretty well for himself by drawing the Vizier card, obtaining a step-by-step guide towards lichdom.   The party managed to leave the Feywild demiplane for better or for worse, a strange-looking ooze tried breaking out of an ingredients jar in the cottage kitchen until Zan'kiri stored it inside his magic lunchbox. The party then visited the Fiendish demiplane, a gray-soaked office space with hallways winding down towards different departments of the Nine Hells, Gehenna, and the Abyss. The party made some deals with the devil Naberius but steered clear of the other two hallways, especially learning that Gray Hat lurked down at the end of one of them. The next stop was a demiplane devoted to Old Myltev's history, a banquet hall with the first drafts of some of Ekal's most famous spells strewn about the tables. Naum's hologram would have started to give a tour of the room and Old Myltev's history at this point, but it came to the hologram's attention that the FF had experienced no challenge to obtain Teherse'singh (he was just part of the loot picked up at Ownka Ramm's fort. The owner of one of Naum's instruments would have to first be tested if they were to see more of the archmage's lab, which is why the hologram triggered a number of defensive measures to start fighting the party...
