Boncly

A wild, rough, desert country. Known for sticking to itself, even in times of nation wide crisis, but for achieving different forms of technology along the way as a virtue of this.

Structure

The nation of Boncly is a confederation of allied territories, with each Mayor controlling the given territory, with the Mayor of the capital given the title of Governor, for the purpose of nation-wide liaison work.

Public Agenda

To live for oneself, not servicing another without safeguarding personal life and possessions.

Assets

Boncly, typically keeping to itself outside of necessary trade, has a good amount of Iron, Steel, Copper, and an abundance of Gold, although it is mostly used for currency standards rather than personal decoration. The most unique part of Boncly is their unique form of Firearms, explosive and volatile compared to the more precise yet limited Laputan firearms.

History

After being a nigh-ignored group of Agarthan Territories, Boncly separated themselves from Agartha in the earlier stages of The Border War, fighting ferociously for their own independence, so that they could make the land livible for themselves, rather than giving even the slightest bit of prosperity to Agartha and the dwarves. However that bitter sentiment has led Boncly to become an isolationist country, keeping to themselves unless the situation absolutely requires it. Although, many people in other countries see Boncly individuals slinking in the shadows, for some unknown reason, giving them a shady reputation.

Demography and Population

Boncly is mostly made of Humans and Elves, but a handful of Beast races make their home in Boncly as well, although they seldom leave their local towns and homesteads. It is not uncommon for other non-beast races to make their home in Boncly, but given that the country has a strict, yet fair, Immigration check and a lack of emigration, the demographics stay pretty solid.

Territories

Boncly used to sit on Agarthan Territory, and later had the island nation of Alicein secede from it as well. In the past, Boncly was ignored for their abundance of deserts and harsh lands, but growth efforts and resourcefulness created when Boncly was able to build its own infrastructure has made the lands much more habitable.

Military

Boncly doesn't have much of a military presence, being a self-governing nation that does not involve itself in the world much, with the local guards of The Firespreaders being it's main defense unit, and an effective one at that.   There is rumor of an underground organization within Boncly, but those are mostly unfounded without any solid leads.

Technological Level

Boncly isn't too far behind the rest of the world, but they advance in their own way. They have traded a lot of the fancy magic for electrical and coal-based technology, although there is no limit of magical items and charms in Boncly. They are also one of two countries to produce Firearms, but they are very secretive about their process. In fact, Boncly themselves have mandated that Boncly firearms are illegal outside of their country.

Religion

The main religion in Boncly is more of a belief system, referred to as The Lone God. The titular god is an ambiguous being, who is said to have given mankind the means to survive, but merely observes them and what they do with it. Many of the theological teachings of The Lone God are merely fables meant to preach the values of certain morals, such as standing up for the less fortunate, and not involving yourself in business you have no reason to interfere with.

Foreign Relations

Boncly doesn't aggressively interact with other countries, but doesn't positively interact with them much either. Boncly will give aid in times of national need, but on a national level they typically stick with just buisness trades. This has changed slightly under Governor Jacob Morrison, who at least keeps ties with their neighbors in Alicein and Kaguya, but it's still a long way from the geopolitical social butterfly that is Magnum Opus, for one.

Agriculture & Industry

The east side of Boncly is an arid and dry desert, but once you get past The Folded Mountains in the middle of the country, it opens up into wide plains and forests that are much more temperate and abundant.

Trade & Transport

Boncly doesn't maintain a lot of trade outside of materials in it's own country, maintained by automated wagons, the hardy Boncly Steeds, or coal-powered Trains that run through the middle of the country. Their main exports to other countries is with Magnum Opus, where they trade Iron and Copper for Magnian Fir Trees and the related items, and with Kaguya, trading gunpowder for the slick Kaguyan Red-Stones.

Education

Boncly has standard education meant for children up to 16, although age limits get fuddled when longer and shorter-lived races come to play, but outside of that it's mostly trade and occupational work and education, although Magnum Opus opens their colleges for those who would desire to attend them, much like any other country.

Infrastructure

Boncly has recently developed an expansive, and revolutionary Sewer System, along with some limited electrical power in the capital, but not as extensive. Other than that, the Boncly rail system is the main infrastructure of the country, with most towns having simple dirt roads, although they are extensively maintained.
